I certainly hope this is the case. Based off both production and injury history, he should not be guaranteed a roster spot and should have a contract commensurate with that

Not the FA signing I want, but if we draft a WR early this makes him what option 5? MT13, rookie, Harty/Callaway, Harty/Callaway, then Trequan? You could do a lot worse for WR5.

Welp. Definitely not going after one of the top WRs in the first now. Probably gonna get another OL who can’t actually play his position

Tre'Quan Smith is not terrible, but he's not great. He offers a lot in run blocking and typically that has been the Saints' desire for a WR2.

I was hoping they could get a true possession receiver or over the top receiver opposite Mike Thomas or at least a tight end that can do anything productive. It may still come. Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham are still out there as really good options, but I don't know that the Saints are ever really serious about them.

They're really gonna sell themselves on this WR room again aren't they

I do not look at this the way you are. To me when you say we have 4 WRs worth keeping already, it signals to me they won't draft a WR high

Yep

Saw on Twitter that Allen, Burns and Ireland stormed out of Olave and Garret Wilson’s pro day workout right after resigning Smith. They were heard cheering “we got our guy!”

He's entering his fifth season with the team and has never caught more than 35 passes in any of those seasons.

At least we know what getting with him.

I can see how you can read it that way too, guess we will see. Cheap depth is the name of the game though, and depending on the contract, that's exactly what he is.

Hey now. He can’t get open and he can’t catch and he can’t stay on the field without getting hurt, but other than that he’s a pretty good WR!

I don't mind the signing, as long as it's for next to nothing. Not like we're gonna mask him to be one of our top 3-4 receivers.

Other than MT13, this is the worst group of WRs in the league and we refuse to improve. I don't understand the thinking behind it.

Adding a top 10 WR back is a pretty big deal.

And they will add one more WR in draft/free agency at the least.

He actually looked pretty good the last few games. I'm fine with this as a No. 3/4.

Nobody should feel bad about Callaway/Harty/TQS as WR 3-5.

Landry/OBJ/Parker still out there.

If not, they will draft a WR in the first two rounds.

To early for all the panic but I don't see him being better than the 5th WR.

I think its a good chance we will draft 1-2 WR/TE in the first 4 rounds. Maybe still get a vet FA WR but the market has been nuts on cost.

Also have some interesting guys on the bench:

Kawaan Baker
80 WR 6-1 215 23 1 South Alabama

Jalen McCleskey
87 WR 5-10 178 24 1 Tulane

Kirk Merritt
85 WR 6-0 208 25 1 Arkansas State

Kevin White
17 WR 6-3 216 29 6 West Virginia ( damn I wish this guy could catch at least a cold)

Easop Winston Jr.
18 WR 6-0 192 25 1 Washington

Lil'Jordan Humphrey RFA
84 WR 6-4 225 23 3 Texas
