He's like the surgeon who tells every patient "that was the worst knee I've ever seen" to temper expectations.

"We felt like Rattler gave us the best chance at the time, and so I think we'll see where we're at come this weekend, what the expectation is. My expectation is that Derek's going to be ready to go," Allen said on Wednesday. "In that case, Jake will be the backup. ... I don't want to get into the specifics of the reasons why, but I feel like that's the best thing for our team."

"I am no savior. There's only been one of those and, that is not me," Carr said, laughing

Seems pretty clear why he said it.

I'm surprised he would say that, but then again I'm not.

People use that term very loosely for for their beloved sports team’s favorite player. Guy got all serious about it and it sends the wrong message.
Your job as the QB is to make sure your are identified as the leader.
While I respect exactly what he is saying, the people he is trying to appeal to don’t get it.

Just don’t say it at all, is the answer.

I doubt anyone thought he was going to be the Savior and bring the team to the playoffs like Brees did.

Carr is a very religions man. He's not going to temper Christianity to appease anyone. Regular people throw around those terms and don't think twice about it, Christians, true Christians don't and understand the power and seriousness of their faith even when other do not.

If fans don't get it, that's their fault, they should. But I suspect if it wasn't this those same fans would be complaining about anything else he says or does. Those types of people are done with Carr and want him gone and wont be happy until he is. If they'll ever be happy at all.

Was he asked about his religion?

Did the reporter even use a religious phrase?

Carr interjected the "savior" terminology out of thin air as best I can tell.

Clearly he was asked about the teams chances after he returns, leading to him saying that.

Some folks beleive their performance or success in life is a product of God’s will, etc, shut up already.

We get it you hate Carr, and whine about him in every possible way.

Carr is using his platform for good. We are called to be disciples of Christ and to go out and proclaim the good news. He may be a bad QB, but he’s a good baw.
