Clearly he was asked about the teams chances after he returns, leading to him saying that.

So, literally nothing to do with religion

shut up already.

Says the guy who celebrated signing Carr and defended it through this offseason

We get it you hate Carr,

Better than liking and defending signing Carr

Did the reporter even use a religious phrase?

Carr interjected the "savior" terminology out of thin air as best I can tell.

oh shut the frick up.

every god damn player on the face of major league and college sports interjects God into their interviews when they weren't asked.

it happens every time a mic is put in their face. EVERY TIME.

"first off, I just wanna thank God... my Lord and savior"

but when carr does it, you judge him?

another lame arse take from SFP. Go away Stephen.

My translation was " hey this sh!t is bad so don't expect me to turn it around all by myself".

Seems the players don't care much to be blamed by the FO of late.

Not for the religions aspect of "savior", but for the football aspect of "savior".

There was no reason for Carr to try to shed blame for our team not doing well when he comes back.

He used religion to do this, even though religion had nothing to do with the question he was asked.

That's exactly what he did, and then tried to spin it as some religious comment for...reasons.

Read no "spin" . Really really short quote.

Being the 'savior of' seems a common thing said in many situations, sports, politics work etc. and I think being very devout he tried to walk it back a little. I think he wasn't comfortable having said it. If I see him I will ask him about it.

I think he's hinting at the injuries along the o-line, in other words don't think he's gonna have success with the line being like it is.

I feel confident in saying that the Lord looked down on post Katrina Drew Brees and said, “Yeah, I nailed that one.”

Yeah he's basically saying, "Hey don't blame me for sucking, guys" which is insane for a supposed leader to do.

Imagine if someone the fanbase didn't like, like Michael Thomas, came out and said "hey I'm not putting up numbers because David Carr sucks" and think about the fanbase reaction.
