The source of this would have to be the Cowboys. Rap has no legit sources with the Saints whatsoever.

Agreed. Rap has to have as little cred w the Saints as any jouro, save maybe Peter King.

Frick Leary.

ESPN's Ed Werder reports general managers around the league "heard a rumor" the Cowboys would trade second-year LG La'El Collins for defensive end help.

Werder asked a Cowboys source about the rumor, and he replied, "That's stupid." It's not all that far-fetched, however. The Cowboys have OG Ron Leary as depth, and he's been an above-average starter for Dallas in the past. He made 31 starts from 2013-2014. Collins was a first-round talent who went undrafted last year, but took over as the starter in Week 3. Collins was Pro Football Focus' No. 53 guard out of 82 qualifiers, struggling both as a run and pass blocker.

There are few guards in the league that I would NOT take over what we currently have on our roster. And I think Peat is fine at LG for now (he is getting rave reviews from camp) so we need anything at RG and we're set on offense this year. The key is to not give up too much though.

Everyone knows left tackle is the easiest position on the line.

that doesn't mean he can play inside. Id like to see him excel at guard if that is indeed where he is going to play

Collins struggled in the pass and run game? But we were so stupid for not just drafting him, commissioner and agent be damned (despite the fact that there were other guards we could have also taken but passed on).

What I never understood was people being pissed we passed on Collins, who was hyped more than he should have been and projected higher as such because of a weak guard class, when the year before when we didn't grab Trai Turner (who seemed like a damn surefire prospect who was projected 2nd-3rd).

Turner was the guy I REALLY wanted in the second round (instead of the bust that SJB would become), and he's allowed only ONE sack over two years with 5 perfect pass protection games last year.

That was the one I was pissed about. frick Collins, let's go grab Turner.

Carolina isn't coughing up Turner till they have to pay him.
We should go after him like Tampa did Nicks in FA...Hopefully with better results.

Doubt we get him. Would love it, but they're not coming off him. Asking price is too steep.

Would probably have to be something like a 3rd rounder and McCown. And like everyone has said, he's good, but he would be a one-year rental at guard unless we plan on paying him.

I know it's unrealistic, but so was (and is) Collins.

My point was if we are going to bitch about not getting an LSU guard let's at least bitch about the right (and better) one.

I mean, I'm all for adding Leary and I'd give up a 3rd or 4th to get him. However, Ian has been utter shite when it comes to news regarding the Saints.

Leary is not worth a 3rd or 4th.

3rd, no.

4th, yeah he would be.

Remember this: A below average G in Ben Grubbs (who still had 2 years left on his deal, and then signed a 2yr/10mil extension) net a 5th rounder.

He was then cut by the same team, thereby saving 1mil, but having 5.2mil in dead money (yes that bad).
