I do think he’s right in saying the very large majority of posters would have even against the pick in round 2. My guess is it was easily >75% at the time against. Obviously, as fans do, they have come around on the idea.

I think most fans would have lived Shedeur in the 2nd heading into the draft. Of course that opinion has changed as well post draft.

The reality is that the Saints are playing a long shot with Shough. Personally, I would have preferred to add a WR or DB knowing that we’d struggle at QB this year.

There is also an element of, "I've heard his name before; therefore, he must be good" & "well the experts had him ranked..."

Its why players like Cam wont be in the roster after this year. The knuckleheads who are holding on from the Payton era need to realize a new regime is here. They'll struggle, at first, but will get younger and better. For once, I cant wait for week 1. Haven't said that for a long time

And I said I didn’t like picking Shough in the 2nd. But it’s the info that was handed down to me. I definitely would have picked one of Mason Taylor or Ezeriku at 40. Or Burden if he fell.

Liking Shough in the 4th round and liking Shough at 40 overall is two different things. There were a few people who talked about wanting him in the 3rd round but not one person mentioned him at 40. He was not being mocked that early at all. It was especially surprising considering how much talent was still available.

I don't care if you like Shough or want him to succeed, I also like him and want him to succeed. But I thought he was a reach in the 3rd round, I came on here and said it pre draft. I pay pretty close attention to draft hype and all the buzz. I knew Shough's story, I watched his film. No one had him at 40 or even close to that. So why would I change my opinion post draft? I thought it was a shock and a huge reach. I wasn't overly impressed with the Banks pick either. I chose to stay consistent to my opinion and not change it based on my bias or fandom like many on this board do.

I'm willing to bet a lot of that is on Loomis. Cam probably has been contemplating retirement the past 2 years, but because of the cap situation and contract Lomis gave him a few years back; they had to keep extending him to help clear cap space.
