Offense should be performing better.

The OL should be performing a lot better.
Saints have (4) 1st round picks and a second invested in the offensive line. That position group has the most predraft talent in it and should be a strength not a weakness. Marrone needs to figure it out and get them to perform better.

As for Carmichael, he needs to be told it is not preseason. He is running the most Vanilla offense the first three quarters and then remembers in the 4th the games count. Go deep more. I just hope Kamara will help fix a lot of issues when he comes back.

Pete is complacent. It's why he's been an OC for the same team for 15 years

Not one ounce of killer instinct.

We need a new OC bad. The o line though is getting absolutely worked most of the time and ruining plays

Players league. Blocking needs to improve and so will the offensive production

In the meantime the chicken littles will circlejerk each other over Pete being fired

Maybe oline improves so does everyone else. Maybe when AK is in the game it changes the defense. Maybe Carr will get better with his new team as games go by.
Maybe.

I have to disagree with that. I don't remember even Payton running slugo routes for 40 yards on third down when we are trying to ice a game. I think Pete hasn't found his grove with this offense yet, and the shitty offensive line is causing us to be more conservative than we like.

Go deep LESS! Calling for deep routes that take too long to develop for the way the OL is struggling right now.

Throwing on first down more to our excellent get-open WRs CGM and Olave for 7-10 yard gains. Quick passes to Juwan and Moreau in the flats and short seam. More Taysom. More Taysom passes. More Shaheed or Olave on circle motion in the backfield with swing passes/swing fakes to hit intermediate out route.

I think this offense needs to better utilize their multiple weapons and horizontal speed to get defenses on their heels. More quick passes to nullify pass rush. Middle screens to slow the pass rush. Heck, a well-designed QB keeper for Carr to slow the pass rush.

Bottom line, Carmichael is calling plays like the OL's struggles aren't real. Until they improve, we've got to employ more creativity and multiplicity. The good news is we've got the pieces to have a pretty good offense even before the OL starts playing to their potential.

I’m not Pete fan, but I think Marrone has been an even bigger rock holding this offense down. People moaned when he was hired and we are seeing why.

No mention of Carr? You can't even mention that hes not playing great. 1 touchdown and 2 bad interceptions. $38M/year and you're expected to take some form of responsibility

The OL needs to perform in order to execute the offensive concepts. QB needs to execute and protect the ball

Pete has been in his bag this season. Give credit where it’s due.

Tied for 3rd in 20+ yard plays with 8
Lead the league in 40+ yard plays with 4

Came here to say this. We’ve lost so many games by playing conservative that seeing that death blow the last weeks by Rasheed has been inspiring. I

Are we 2-0 right now or am I living in an alternate universe?

A teams win loss success is reliant on having a good OC as much as it is have a good QB. It not a question that you have to have an above average QB to be a deep playoff team. But, teams also must have an above average OC 5hat has his own method of madness.

Your OC cannot be a copycat of other minds, he has to have his own proven philosophy and this is where I believe Carmichael falters. He is modifying other philosophies instead of building on his own. No one is going to refer to Carmichael as a great offensive mind and his exposure to great offensive minds is limited to ONE.

Between this and the comment about PC has no drive I feel like y’all just enjoy making a bunch of shite up. “Pete doesn’t watch game film because he’s lazy”. There, now go run with what I said as a fact

Mic'd up seem to imply that was Carr's call. I doubt Pete had the gall to tell him No.

He's been an assistant for 15 years. SP and Drew were calling the offense. The fact that he has none of the play calling instincts after being around both for more than a decade is pathetic.
Maybe the Saints should call up Joe Brady. His playcalling at LSU was much more imaginative and he knows the system.

This is usually the preferred coaching strategy 2 weeks into a season. Some coaches may even use this strategy for 4-5 weeks if they have a brand new QB, missing #1 RB and a #1 receiver that hasn’t played in 2 years.

Our OL will get better as the play calling gets better and our guys build chemistry. I agree we are “turning it up” a little late and playing lackadaisical through 3 quarters so far.

I’m also not going to underestimate the Tiatans/ Panthers D lines. 2 of the best D lines we will play all year and both could end up top 10 respectively

I've said many times that Carmichael is a relic and should be replaced with new blood.
Must be that he has incriminating photos of someone up the food chain in the Saint's organization 'cause he is pathetic as a play caller!
