I am for bringing is some new talent though.
i know everyone freaks out if you even mention the idea of a new WR. however, i think we have gotten a little stagnant at the position. i would love to see someone fresh and new to add. it doesnt have to be anything gaudy. look how sproles fit right in without costing us much. we will need to evaluate the position in the upcoming years, especially if colston doesnt get resigned

meachem is extremely hot or cold. he didnt do shite when we blew up against the colts. not one catch against tampa, nothing really vs the rams (although the whole team sucked) and not much against the panthers or jags.
yes we spread the ball a lot. but meachem has always been like this. devery is done. face it. colston is always good for missing 2-4 games a year. people can be blind to it, but eventually we may need some more talent here. i get LBs come first. fine. but dont ignore WR either

Didt devery have back to back 100 yard games at beginning of the season with colston out? I dont think he's lost it, There just ist enough balls to go around.

so weeks 1 and 2? and colston was around in week 1 so theres that flaw. want to go check his stats since week 2? in a seven game stretch he doesnt have more than 13 yards in a game. if he still has it, wouldnt we at least target him more? dude is invisible and isnt in the game plan.

We are the #1 passing team and the 30th or 31st against the pass and people on here are talking about improving the passing game...
No guys, that is the least of our worries.
We need Linebackers and a defensive front 4 that can put pressure on the qb. As long as we have Drew and keep him upright he will continue to make avg wide outs famous.

I think Meachem is great for stretching the field. If we are talking about the prospect of adding someone new for a cheaper price, I would love to snag Kendall Wright if he fell anything past the 2nd or 3rd round. Not sure if that'll happen, though. I feel like I saw him get way behind the secondary every week.

He's on the roster already. He's being redshirted.
His name: Joe Morgan

Devery has not 'lost a steo'. He's only about 28 and he's never been injured. Don't know why they don't throw deep to him anymore.
How in the frick is that guy only 29? I just looked it up, I could have sworn he was closer to retirement

Devery is like that guy on various college teams who seems to have like 10 years of eligibility.

I have no problems with these guys:

Aren't their contracts up though? I'm pretty sure Meach is up, I don't know about Henderson

The good thing about having a QB that spreads the ball around so much is that the WR's don't have the typical big money stats. Lance and Devery hit the market and you see where they are now.
Dev and Meech seem capable to stretch the field but you do wonder how their straight line speed compares with the true burners in the NFL this year.

Meach is a free agent after this season.
Devery is a free agent after 2012 season.
I'm sure we can resign them without much problem though.

I wouldn't mind some fresh blood in the WR core. I think Lance Moore could be our Wes Welker. Keep him in the slot.

Don't think it would make a difference if we had fresh blood or not at WR. The only thing that's keeping Meachem and Devery from having big impacts on our offense is our game planning. The weapons are there to stretch the field... whenever their number is actually called. Our offense is ran through Jimmy, our backs, Colston, and Moore first... unless we want to shave down their targets, there's only so much to go around.
They produce when they're called on... that's all that matters.

colston and meach are both free agents. and we need to give drew a contract. could get interesting

Not sure if serious. But, TBH I don't know if Drew can stretch the field.

From J Duncans game fimn breakdown.
Here's the breakdown of the reps at each skill position: WR - Colston 46; Henderson 42; Meachem 31; Moore 19.TE - Graham 44; Gilmore 27; McQuistan 9. RB - Ingram 25; Sproles 22; P.Thomas 14. FB - Collins 25.
Never would have guessed 73 snaps for Dev and Meech. You just can't see it on TV.
