Shough >>>> Rattler. Rattler is the very definition of a 5th round QB. Poor play, bad measurables. The dude went 0-6. You owe him nothing.

What makes anyone think Shough is a better prospect than Rattler, besides where he was drafted(in a much weaker QB class).

Rattler played in a better conference, against better competition and put up better numbers. He's younger, was a more highly touted prospect coming into college, and has NFL experience. Shough is injury-prone, has never put up big numbers against garbage competition and never won anything of note.

I doubt either ever succeed in the NFL, but if you told me one would have a long NFL career, I'd bet the house it's Rattler. Shough will be another wasted high draft pick that we blast this FO for taking (Jean Baptiste, Foskey, Turner, Sullivan, etc..)

We'll be taking Nuss or Arch next year. One of them will be our QB of the future and we can finally start this rebuild right.

Derek Carr was (is) a career loser and there’s still a legion of folks who think he can turn it around after 170 career starts

Same ones have shut the book on the Ratt king

And the same ones will be shitting on Shough and calling for Rattler after he loses a few games

If there is a QB that is better than the QB you have, yes. Worst case scenario, Slough is decent, you can trade him before his contract expires.

That wouldn’t be a tough choice at all. 2nd round picks bust all the time. Look at Foskey lol.

If Shuck sucks we will draft a QB next season as we will be picking top 5

it’s only a 2nd rd pick

I feel like we're way undervaluing a 40th pick. There were studs left there that could be immediate starters. I really hope Shuck works out, but I'm not confident.

I was hoping Saints at #40 (2nd Rd) would grab a starting caliber ….
- CB or
- Safety or
-Pass Rusher

After drafting 3 QBs in 3 consecutive years.. watch the Saints draft yet another QB with either their 1st or 2nd rd Draft Pick in 2026….. after playing their 27 yr old rookie QB with not much results.

You mean like which five-year rookie contract eligible guy to select at 32 overall?

no, the worst case scenario is Shough is trash and KM turned to Rattler at the end of the season and we wasted a 2nd round pick and draft a QB again

Just read a 2026 Mock Draft….

They have Saints picking yet another QB in next years draft for a 4th consecutive year:
Garrett Nussmeier from LSU

Of course we have a Top 6 Pick cause we will suck next year.

I would love that QB pick in 2026.

I have no issues with Saints Draft in 2025 … ALL EXCEPT the 2nd rd Pick.

Saints need to rebuild ….but throwing away a 2nd round pick on a QB was JUST STUPID when we had a chance to draft another position and get a quality starter… let our 2 QBs compete/play and hopefully draft a franchise QB in 2026. !!

Oh well…. Loomising !!

Loomi’s salary cap fukk ups will cost us years with no money for players and Loomis fukking up selecting draft pick players means we just keep repeating the process.

For example…. How many draft picks we keep wasting on Defensive ends and we STILL don’t have quality starters… need to draft more DE !!!

Loomising !!!

They don’t bust all the time! Our picks and the lack we’ve had from reckless trades bust at a higher rate. Following is last 10 picks at 40 it’s a damn good list of players and shows how embarrassingly bad the Foskey pick is:

Here are the last 10 No. 40 picks in the NFL Draft:
2025: Tyler Shough, QB, Louisville
2024: Cooper Dejean, DB, Iowa
2023: (Pick 40 did not go to a player in the 2023 draft due to a trade)
2022: Boye Mafe, DE, Washington
2021: Richie Grant, DB, Wake Forest
2020: Ross Blacklock, OT, TCU
2019: Trayvon Mullen, CB, TCU
2018: Courtland Sutton, WR, Central Oklahoma
2017: Curtis Samuel, WR, Ohio State

Essentially admitting drafting a QB in the 2nd round previous year was a big mistake.

I honestly cant believe some here can respirate without assistance.

Hey…. Just wait til next year.

When Saints draft a QB for 4th year in a row.. that says everything.

People on this board see the Saints Thru Rose Colored Glasses and don’t live in reality.

It makes no sense to fret over using the pick fo Shough. Oh yeah. Its not like we totally mortgaged the future. And if he turns out to be a serviceable
quarterback and an upgrade for the next couple of seasons, nobody will worry about the fact we took him in the second round.

We will try and draft a franchise QB next year, so prepare yourself.

Shough WAS NOT drafted to be a franchise QB, more of a stop gap situation. And a real chance he will have to start 2025 and hopefully he will then transition in to a competent backup, something we dont have right now.

Teams spend multiple firsts in order to try to find their guy. It is relatively common these days that teams will trade 2 or 3 first round picks to move up to get their guy. There is no sure things and you take your shots when you can. You have a whole year to evaluate Shough. If you are in a position next year to draft a guy that you believe is better then you take them.

So like two players that are above average in Cooper DeJean and Courtland Sutton.
