What is this guy actually suing for? What damages did he have?

I think he's claiming he quit because he was being asked to do something illegal by covering it up, but it doesn't sound like this was quite as covered up as he's saying.

quote:

By June 23, Santini reported the matter to the U.S. attorney's office, as he says Loomis ordered.

"Loomis admitted during the conversation that corrective action had been taken to ensure that (senior staff member B) received treatment and would not steal any additional pills," the lawsuit says.

Although the article does also mention this, not sure what the obligations are for reporting things to the DEA.

quote:

Santini said Loomis told him about a need to keep one of the senior staff member's name out of conversations with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

reading the comments on the espn page is always worth a laugh.

If that person whose name was asked to take out was Payton, I wonder if there's any actual evidence that he did anything wrong. Even if Payton did something wrong, if there's only proof of Vitt taking pills, plus Loomis told cooperated with the DEA, I really can't see much coming from this.

Florio is an avowed Vikings fan, and the only war I see is the same two Minnesota fans spamming the comments sections on every article.

If memory serves, Favre was taking Vicodin from his teammates and had his wife setting up fraudulent dentist appointments to score more. I really can't see a huge blowup over pain pills...

PFT has some serious stuff swirling about, no doubt.

However...this is Florio we're talking about here.

Favorite response:

quote:

Deb says: May 1, 2010 6:17 PM Mike, Payton said he's never stolen or abused Vicodin or any other medication. What else could he have said to indicate denial to you? (She rolls her eyes.) But by all means, continue prosecuting in the infamous court of public opinion. @Fan of Four ... You have got to be the sorriest excuse for a loser I've ever encountered. So you think the destruction of the Gulf Coast and the deaths of hundreds of people is funny? God help you. The Vikings fans should take a vote and vomit you out. I'm trying to think of a sport that might be suitable to your character. Maybe cockroach racing?

If we had gone 4-12 last season, this never comes up.

If we had gone 4 - 12, Payton,Vitt, and Loomis might all be fired.

Damn Madden curse already rearing its ugly head. The curse won't be Drew getting hurt, but it will be taking away his head coach.

Just kidding, by the way. Thought we could use a laugh.

Vicodin is a controlled substance...not a narcotic

Then you and your pharmacy have redefined the term "narcotic" as it has been used for years in pharmacology, law enforcement and popular usage.

"Narcotic" is defined as a drug containing an opiate derivative (natural or synthetic) used for pain relief. Vicodin contains hydrocodone (opiate derivative) and is used for pain relief.

That is football. As long as you're winning everything is ok but lose and every reason in the world will be used to fire you.

It's interesting that there is only a civil case at this stage. Of course, our fans have been beat down for so long that they are conditioned to assume the worst without thinking things through.

I find it funny that this story comes out at a time when the NFL has almost nothing going on besides a few rookie camps starting up. it makes me think that this Santini guy purposefully waited until after the draft was over to press charges just do cause some stir in the media. if he had did this last week no one would be talking about it.

Details are starting to trickle out...the accuser quit the Saints and went to work for the UFL, that league Haslett was in...he lost his job when it folded...

His opening demand to keep quiet was 2 million

I don't understand how he is suing for back pay if he resigned on his own?
