Wow, I'm happy for Taysom, but that's really telling about Winston. He's been on the team for a few months now. If his work ethic was worth a crap, he would know the plays by now.

It’s not about knowing the plays, it’s about money

Taysom has to play because they gage him that shite contract this offseason

And Jameis had bonus incentives tied into playing time

No need to read in to it

This will produce some coverage busts as teams try to stack the box.

What is interesting is statistically ATL is great against the run and #31 against the pass. Maybe they figure that everyone will be wide open enough for Taysom to actually complete passes.

I think CSP is about to show us how good of an offensive mind that he has. This offense will be very different than what we're used to seeing.

If Taysom has a good day passing...Atlanta is going to have a very bad day. Taysom can't run as much as he does when substituting for Brees. He ran over 90% of the time.

We're going from an offense ran by a pocket passer (Brees/Teddy) to an offense like the Ravens.

Maybe Taysom just looked more comfortable running the entire offense. He's been here a lot longer, & Jameis really hasn't been here very long. Also, no pre-season games.

We don't really know enough about the situation to come to a definite conclusion.

the fact the Saints had to burn all 3 TOs by the early stages of the 4th quarter last week due to offensive issues says Jameis wasn't sure of everything going on

and yes the loss of the preseason does make a world of difference here

It was clear last week that Jameis did not know the offense. They wasted multiple timeouts because they couldn't get the play called and the playclock was running down. If he had another year in the system I think he would be starting.

No, it has nothing to do with money. It has to do with a quarterback not knowing the offense and costing them multiple timeouts because he couldn't get the playcall right. Payton doesn't give a damn about money. He wants to win. You have some terrible takes sometimes.

wasted timeouts and delay of games is a Payton specialty

This certainly could be factoring in, but I think the Saints will do whatever it takes to win.

I heard someone mention how playing Winston now would expose him for better or worse and that could actually hurt the Saints if they did end up keeping Winston.

In other words, the friendly 1 year deal was a great way to keep Jameis under the radar and then decide if they liked what they saw in practice with him all season long.

They called 1 timeout on a 3rd and 2 from our 41 on Winston’s first drive to bring in Hill for the 3rd down

Also called a timeout on a 3rd and goal from the 5 to setup a play

I mean ya only get 3 Time outs

Our play calls are so long, even Drew struggles to get the plays off in time,

We flirt with delay of game every single play.

I don’t think we’d do this intentionally but it could ring true.

You already paid Hill so you see what he got. If Winston came out and balled, his next contract would be more than Teddy’s $63M deal

We don't flirt with delay of game and Drew isn't struggling. That is the style of football Payton wants the saints to play. Use every second and keep the other teams offense on the field. This has zero to do with people not knowing the plays. When Jameis came it that was 100% the issue.

The fact that Brees can get up there, read the defense, decide to audible or not, and call for motion on nearly every single snap in under 10 seconds amazes me.

Meanwhile Goff gets set up with about 25 seconds left and still has to have McVay read the defense for him. Pathetic.
