New Orleans believes it is in a good spot with Carr, and it also believes Carr will have a decision ready at some point in the next week — giving him a chance to help recruit new teammates before the start of free agency

NOLA.com

If they're all in as the article says what's Carrs contract going to look like cap wise. I would imagine he will get paid but at the same time allow his contract to be structured so that the Saints can retain or add some talent to the team.

I’m sure we’ll have guys beating down the door taking team friendly deals so they can play with a guy who crapped his pants while having the league’s best WR and its leading rusher.

Well no one is beating down the door to play with shitty Andy Dalton

Which is why you just keep Dalton because you’d pay him about $20mm less to be in the same exact position. Carr doesn’t change anything about this franchise or its future.

I never said I wanted to sign Carr esp for that money. I don't want to keep shitty Dalton

I never said you said that. I was simply expanding on your statement that while it’s true that Dalton isn’t a needle mover, neither is Carr so might as well keep the cheaper option for the same results.

That's the thing, it's all relative.

The Saints are an overall solid franchise, was able to take the Vikings (a 13 win team) to the brink; with zero offense that excites anyone (outside the potential for Kamara to make a few plays).
You upgrade the QB slot from 'garbage' to 'dangerous' (not even to 'good'), and you push the team from a respectable opponent to a playoff contender. And once you are playing for a shot at the playoffs instead of constantly 2+ games behind, the excitement level will come back.

I was initially uneasy about his potential contract. Then i Saw Daniel Jones may end up getting around 45 per.

Im good with Carrs asking price now. Shits insane.

Saints may even get him a little cheaper. Carr would have signed by now if any team gave him his 35

I’m coming around on the idea of having carr. The roster isn’t depleted of talent. We’re above average qb play away from running away with the division. Carr can be a solution for years to come.

I believe QB contracts will be a huge sticking point next CBA.

I really dont care who gets paid what in general. But you have to believe Cleveland was the last straw lol.

But to be fair to them, Minny was the first to fully guarentee. Im surprised more teams dont opt for shorter deals but fully guarentee

I can’t believe they are sinking this franchise to mediocrity for years to come. Carr just isn’t the personality I think I want at QB and not at over $30 million a year. We will always be draft around the 20th pick which keeps us just barely a playoff contender while still picking lower in the draft. I would rather suck for a year or two to rebuild the team the way it needs to be done than go through this. Carr is known to be quick to upset and he’s known for not liking to step up into the pocket to deliver a throw when he knows he’s going to take hit.

I disagree. I think the Saints are the favorite to win the division next year with Carr. They won’t be title contenders for sure, but I believe they are a 9-10 win team with Carr at QB and that will win the South IMO.

I think we win 9 games last year if Dalton starts the first 3 games. Jameis was being Jameis and had a bunch of turnovers that led directly to points and lack of points for us.

So who are you realistically wanting? Let me guess, give Winston his third chance.

Carr is top 12 QB in league. Saints will shell out money to sign a proven QB. Chances going playoffs increased with Carr.

If he comes in and brings us back to the playoffs every year then great. If we suck then we draft high every year he is here, also great.

And yet Dennis Allen schooled their coach. Says a lot.

Unfortunately signing Carr may mean the Saints won’t be taking Hooker with their 2nd or 3rd. I like Hooker’s upside better than what we have seen from Carr
