One thing to lose. Another thing entirely to get THISSSSS close and still lose. 2017 playoffs vs Vikings. 2018 Playoffs vs Rams. Now this. It is like God just doesn't want to see the Saints go marchin in. :(

But the Super Bowl. Lions and Browns have more heartbreak.

Buffalo Bills? No playoff win since 1995 and blew a 16-0 lead yesterday. Definitely worse.

Y'all don't seem to understand what the definition of heartbreak is as used in this context.

The Saints are now a heartbroken franchise. The Browns and the Lions were never a heartbroken franchise. To have heartbreak you have to have something in the first place. You can't have heartbreak without hope. Heartbreak is when you're so close and you lose it.

The Browns and the Lions have never had anything. They've never had sustained success. They're not heartbroken franchises, they're downtrodden franchises. Just like the Saints wear for the 1st forty-something years until 2006.

Yes. The Vikings and the bills are also heartbroken franchises. So are the Eagles.

It always the most dramatic too - would have been way easier to have Cook score on 1st and goal from the 1 instead of us forcing a 3rd and 5 and getting good pressure on Cousins

I have been a Saints fan for over fifty years. Things have been much worse than this. Winning that one Super Bowl was a dream come true.

They had one of the best teams ever going 15-1. And likely lost on a missed FG from a great NFL kicker. Think it was late 90s.

They've had great teams, Purple People Eaters, etc.

If some genie granted me a wish in 2009 that the Saints will win the Super Bowl but I’ll will be nothing but heartache and pain in the playoffs after that, I still take that one special season 10 times out of 10.

I'm talking about a sustained period of winning, regular season and playoffs.

Good Lord man.

Obviously they have had great players. Every franchise has had great players. Hell, they have great players right now.

The Vikings have had some great teams and they’re 6th all time in winning %. Yet they’re never won a SB. Also don’t know if we can top making and losing 4 straight SBs like the Bills. Then you have teams like the Browns, Lions, and Cardinals (2nd oldest team in the NFL) who have suffered heart breaking loss after loss in the regular season for decades.

buffalo lost four super bowls. Two on easy fg attempts most posters could make. Doink. One went wide.

Losing super bowls like that, twice.
