The New Orleans Saints have extended their lease agreement with the state to continue to play in the Superdome for another 5 years, Saints vice president of communications Greg Bensel said Wednesday.
The transaction, which was seen as a formality by both sides, ensures the team will stay in Louisiana through 2030. An approaching Dec. 31 deadline triggered the action, Bensel said.

Lease should have been for 30 years.

That is so Gayle can sell the team and the new owner doesn't have a long lease so he or she can move the team.

Saints are an extremely important regional team that goes past New Orleans but I always love the people coming out suggesting a move.

I think it has more to do with the age of the Superdome and posturing for a new stadium more than anything.

This one raises an eyebrow for me.

Maybe so. But Superdome is a historically protected place after Katrina

They should’ve postured in 2010 when they were in top of the world. No way a new stadium gets built in New Orleans proper in the next 20yrs.

If thats the case then all the money spent upgrading the superdome was a waste.

I actually hate going to games now rather watch on tv then sit 2” away from someone on either side of me needing to pee every five minutes. Concessions suck the Saints need a new venue in a bad way.

So where exactly would they go if Gayle sells?
San Antonio? Austin? I can’t think of any other spots especially if Jags eventually go to London

Now that the NFL is in Vegas and LA where would they move to? There isn't a major payout like LA and LV out there.

No, it doesn't.

They have already said they are more focused on a replacement for Smoothie King Center and to begin those discussions around 2030. That was reported on NOLA.com last year. So, with the new Dome deal for the Saints expiring at the same time, the Saints/Pelicans can do a sort of omnibus deal for a new long term Dome lease for the Saints and a new arena for the pelicans at the same time.
