Patriot’s don’t have a franchise quarterback.
Mac jones can be good enough.
Payton supposedly liked him in the draft.

back in what looks to be one of the best quarterback draft classes in years. New Orleans may not be in position to draft a C.J. Stroud, a Bryce Young or even a Will Levis, but they could combine both potential first-round picks into a package deal this spring.
Is the author assuming we’re going to get two for him? Because we don’t even have one right now.
This seems like pure speculation just to get a few clicks and a lot of posters in this board could probably write a more accurate article.

If the Chargers spot is available that's where he will go. Young QB and great location. Remember, one of the reasons he left New Orleans is because it is a shite hole. Location will be a huge factor in his decision.

Here is my 2 cents:
The Saints ownership and front office are not going to demand high draft picks in exchange for Payton because they like Payton they are friends with him and they do not care to excessively harm his chances with his new team.
The Saints ownership and FO do not think and operate like the Fans. Also, the NFL Front Office would be pissed off at the Saints unless the Saints cut Payton loose for a small price.
That's my 2 cents. I disagree with the notion that the power ranking of the Saints will be significantly improved if Payton is traded.
I could be wrong.

Ok. Think about this. The second they let Payton slip to another team for a nickel, Payton could come poaching parts of our staff and front office. frick THAT.

Maybe that's part of the Silent Agreement between Payton and the Saints: don't demand a First Round pick for me and in exchange I won't steal Jeff Ireland from you.

CSP and his agent were listening to offers from miami while coaching the Saints.
If any poster thinks the Saints FO is going to reward this you are functionally below retard!

However, if Payton is to be an NFL head coach again, it is certainly not going to be in New Orleans.
Not that I think he'd want to, but where is this statement coming from? He seems to still be pretty tight with people in the organization.

This is the most likely scenario in my opinion.

Payton won’t be freed from contract until February 2025. That is a long time from now

I fully expect the Saints F.O. to squeeze the blood out of anyone who winds up with Payton particularly with the how he left and what transpired afterwards. He walked away from
$45 mil. for the last 3 seasons on his contract so he will be itching to land somewhere and some team will be itching to land him.
On top of all of this, the whole NFL world will be watching how this goes down because it happens so infrequently. Careers will be on the line if they fumble this potential opportunity. Three years down the line he could have finished out his contract and left us high and dry. If he were still here I don't think we would be that much better off with what we have to work with right now.
We need to be prepared to play hardball.

Yup.
If we get nothing after 3 years well CSP got less than nothing. He will be behind every other team and staff by three years. That will leave a mark.

I don’t think they’re necessarily looking to reward it but I think the compensation is going to be a good bit less than a first round pic.

We can only hope more than one team wants him and the price is driven up. But if this goes past year two I wouldn't see much coming our way either. We will know this off season how its going to play out I think.

Underhill tweeted that he talked to some team execs about Payton's trade value. What did he have to say? It was behind his paywall
