Teope:
PFT just tweeted about Wright, former Cardinal.

Saints are also hosting former Broncos LB Zaire Anderson for a workout today, per source. Anderson recently worked out for the Jaguars and Jets this past week, brings a lot of special teams experience, which the Saints lost after cutting LB Nate Stupar.

Who we gonna cut if we sign them? Brees? Kamara? Definitely not JT Gray

hopefully michael ola after this week isn't needed any longer.

Scooby Wright seems like a more physically gifted Adam Bighill. Killed it in college but is undersized and injury prone.
I'd really like it if they cut the right person. But they won't.

We won't need to cut anyone after the Ted Ginn trade goes through

Yea, it's just a matter of time until he's gone imo. If he stays here...that's not good news imo, b/c that means our O-Line is banged up.
Ola & Gray (not going to happen though) seem like the easiest guys to cut on our current roster. Maybe LeRibeus if our O-Line gets healthy, but I'd rather keep him if possible. He can basically play every position on the O-Line & he's just flat out better than Ola. LeRibeus is a good guy to have on the roster b/c of his versatility (kind of like PJ Williams in the secondary).

Zaire Anderson
Reminds me of Lawrence Taylor with the intelligence of Vilma

Wright
Breaking down the film he has some Calvin Johnson, Jerry Rice qualities along with the gayness of Julio Jones.
ETA: Yes it was funnier in my head

I remember this dude. He was a beast in college...pretty good numbers.

If only the Saints had a linebacker on their roster that scored a touchdown in the preseason on special teams.

I think Jayrone Elliott & Jonathan Freeny are both still un-signed free agents. 2 decent options that already know the system.
Elliot is more of a special teams guy & pass rusher. Freeny can actually give you a decent spot start though (at least he did last year).

beast is underselling scooby. he was fricking dominant in CFB but just doesn't have the physical attributes (size and athleticism) to translate to the NFL

The Saints are annually obsessed with special teams coverage roster.
And for what?
A handful of plays per game that end up resulting in consistently average gains or holding/blocking in the back penalties or injury.
99% of NFL teams also offer nothing special or have no dominant coverage/blocking unit. The only teams that ever "excel" in ST's are those that have an elite electric returner (who makes people miss despite whoever is blocking) and a sound punter and reliable kicker.
Steve Gleason, Brian Milne, Chris Reis, the Jets' Terminator etc only make one significant play per year (or maybe career) and are usually off the team a year or two later. None of them can turn a Lance Moore or a TLL into Dante Hall or a Devin Hester.

I loved watch8ng Scooby at AZ. I would watch them just to watch that guy play. forced a game winning fumble a few years ago IIRC. think it was a big game too.

If I never hear about a "special teams guy" again it will be too soon.

I liked watching Scooby in college

I remember Scooby Wright from his days at Arizona and when he was going through the draft process. Ended up going in the 7th round. He was projected to go a little higher. He's short and slow, but the kid can play.
Here's his draft profile from nfl.com
