I seem to recall people saying there’s a reason Oakland traded randy moss for a 7th, insinuating moss had lost it and not that Oakland was run by a senile retard

Maybe that’s the case with Dez Bryant.

Dez Bryant isn't in the same stratosphere. He's on the street because he wanted to much money to be a nearly 30 year old WR with diminishing physical skills who can't run routes all that great.

People are seeing the name Dez Bryant and hoping you're going to get the guy you saw forvtwo or three seasons early in his career. Dude is overrated as frick at this point and a shell of what he was 5 or 6 years ago.

I think most logical folks are expecting to come in and just be another option. Expecting him to be a #1 at this point is foolish, but to think Payton/Brees couldn't use him in some capacity is just as foolish.

Jeremy Maclin might be the third guy. He's still a free agent

Expecting a shitty route runner to come in around week 10 and be able to break into a great/complex offense is foolish? That's not really how it works in the NFL. If he was a burner that'd be one thing but he doesn't even really have that at this point.

That’s what I was thinking. It’s pretty well known he was only allowed to run like 3 routes his entire career in Dallas because he was such a bad route runner. He has to hire a route running consultant this year to actually learn how to run other routes to have a better chance at catching on with a team. It’s a major red flag that he is just now addressing this problem. Saints rely on precise routes and Dez is not ideal for this type of offense.

Payton is trying to get too fricking cute with Dan Arnold, Austin Carr, and Taysom Hill sometimes.

Dez may want a ring. It's amazing what motivation can do.

He doesn’t have to run complex routes. Have him learn slot and be a big body underneath guy, let TreQuan take the top off and have Thomas work the intermediate.

Dez doesn’t have to be peak Dez to be effective

I still think Ginn will be back regardless if we bring in Dez

Agreed, though I do think Hill can catch. He’s not a WR. We miss Ginn, even if he’s not as consistent as he was last year. He’s an upgrade over Carr/Arnold.

Sign Dez or not, this championship dream just got real. Usually it’s the Patriots getting the big name divas only to see them thrive and be humble once they see 12 and Belechick.
