No big, back-loaded free agent deals. Almost all FA on 1 yr deals. They let some good players walk last year (mostly to Atlanta) rather than overpaying. They didn't trade away next year's draft for players now.

I think they're finally trying to reset after the "all-in" years with Drew and Sean, something Payton wouldn't allow. If DA flames out this season, the new staff will come in with a cleaner slate - all of their draft picks and some money for free agents.

One thing this does tell me, though, is Loomis feels his job security is rock solid, otherwise he'd be mortgaging the future.

I’m completely fine with it if this is the direction. Let Allen drive the tank and a new staff come in with pieces to play.

No doubt. I like it.

And I know people will disagree who stay all up in their feels about Mickey. But I think his job security is an advantage. The new ones with little security do mortgage the future, like you suggest Mickey is not.

i doubt it, as long as gayle is still alive we are stuck with loomis, and allen is staying as long as loomis is staying, he isnt firing allen until he is scared of being fired himself and thats not happening until gayle dies and the team is sold

I mean it's the perfect time. ATL and TB just signed QBs to 9 figure deals and Carolina just invested their future into a 5'9 QB with zero supporting cast...they'll be spending their future trying to make it work now.

The problem with that is that the team needs a “hard” reset yesterday.

There’s no such thing as a soft reset

I don't know why you would think this. There has never been a report that Loomis and Allen are friends or anything. Do we not believe Loomis is a cold-blooded snake? DA was the obvious hire after SP left, and I suspect Loomis looked at the team last year and realized replacing him would be pointless until the cap and roster were in better shape.

I don’t think so. Even before the draft, the way Mickey answered the questions seemed like DA didn’t have as much input in the draft. I think DA needs to make the playoffs for sure or hes gone. I think Loomis definitely and should be feeling the heat. Just from my perspective it seems like Loomis is a lot more involved in this team than he has been in the past. Almost like he’s not fricking this team up for what DA wants.

bullshite. Green Bay and even Tampa Bay have recently rebuilt without bottoming out. Plenty of examples of teams dipping to .500 for a season or 3 and then bouncing back. Much more rare to bottom out to the #1 pick and then become relevant again in the next 3-5 years (miracles like Joe Burrow notwithstanding). Look at the hell Carolina is in. Look how much time Detroit and Cleveland spent in the toilet, despite bottoming out again and again. Even Jacksonville and the Chargers are still arguably worse than the Saints 3-4 years after bottoming out for Trevor and Herbert. Hell, the Chiefs never bottomed out before they got Mahomes - they traded up from the 20s. There is no "one way" to build a Superbowl caliber team.

Either be rebuilding or competing for a title. This in-between, 9-8 record borderline playoff team is shite.

Where do you think all the former raiders are coming from? That's allen. Loomis likes allen and Allen has imput on this team.

Other than Derek Carr and Foster what other former raiders have come here?? You’re acting like we signed 10 raiders or something. That also was last offseason. I think things have changed this offseason.
