ESPN's Jenna Laine reports the Bengals, Falcons, Patriots, Browns, Colts, and Saints all have "some level of interest" in free agent DT Gerald McCoy. The Browns, Colts, and Bengals have already been linked with McCoy, and the Patriots, Falcons, and Saints are all contenders who could use some help along the defensive line. It does not sound like McCoy will be a free agent for very long. SOURCE: Jenna Laine on Twitter

I think that we're fine as is at DT, even with Rankins being out for much of the season. But he would definitely help.

if he's basing it strictly off contenders then eliminate Browns and Bengals

If we get him and stay healthy JESUS H CHRIST.

I’d sacrifice a couple 4-12 seasons after drew retires to win one, maybe two Super Bowls before he retires. We need a super bowl next year, our players need a super bowl next year, the fans need a super bowl next year, and damn it my trash talking self needs a super bowl next season

if thats the criteria then its only between pats and saints with the colts peeping in the window in case he would be ok with not getting any super bowls but he would settle for simply making playoffs most years

i think we all would be ok with that, but this team is pretty solid overall so while there will obviously be a drop off after drew, i dont see us as bottom dwellers but more likely a middle of the pack team struggling at QB like during the mora years

Imagine:

Cam Jordan, Sheldon Rankins, Gerald McCoy, Marcus Davenport.

You could run a jumbo package and add in Malcolm Brown

Also great knowing that Jordan can drop in the middle and/or Rankins can drop outside. Would be a hell of a rotation.

Why sort of any coy interest? McCoy should be a priority, especially in the middle!

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, McCoy has drawn interest from 10 teams with offers coming in up to $11 million per season. The amount of interest has reportedly “overwhelmed” McCoy and he appreciates the decision by the Glazer family to release him when they did

The Bucs beat writer is reporting this, I’m assuming he’s getting fed this from McCoy camp in an effort to drive up his price.

It took Suh all that time to sign, and he got 1 year worth up to $10 mil as the better player.

Do we really believe 10 teams are on him at $11 mil this late into FA

The need for cap room? You could say that about any player. The article has jack to do with Onyemata and the Saints aren't releasing him.

We need more bodies on the Dline, not less. You either do one of those 1 year deals with a couple of void years to spread the hit, or restructure/extend someone with a high cap hit this year.
