So you are a hypocrite? Sounds like nothing but excuses to me. I misinterpreted what you said originally because you didn't quote what you were replying to and I thought you were talking about something different. That was on you. You misread something I said here, that is also on you. But I'm more than happy to keep this going while you make yourself look like a fool.

I'd rather a tug over a hug, but either will do.

And apologies to you landry. Seems we were both lost on what each other were saying. I did not mean to be a hypocrite(I honestly was distracted by my daughter, thus the lack of quotes and not double checking my reading).

I think I did lose sight of the spirit of what you meant and focused too much on some of the actual words. Having time to go back and reread I think I see what you're trying to say.

In the end, I still think Vilma and Smith get cut and Harper stays(restructured or not) due to a multitude of factors, especially reading between the lines of what Payton says. He never seems to mention Harper in any way that would lead you to think he was getting cut, as opposed to how he mentions Smith and Vilma being leaders and such but then saying how they have to make tough choices.

No problem. Sorry for acting like an a$$ myself. I do that sometimes. For what it's worth, I agree that Smith and Vilma will get cut.

if they get cut, this defense becomes top 20, guarantee it! I keep laughing that our defensive leaders were two safeties, who were probably our worst defensive players. haha

so if Herring and Vilma get cut, would anyone like the idea of getting Alec Ogletree in the draft?

the Saints need to have more speed at the LB position in my opinion. I know it might not be the most popular pick on this board but what if the most coveted pass rushers are gone?

Herring has always been an overachiever. I remember watching him at Auburn when I did a stint there in college. He actually played safety back in those days. The Saints have really gone after linebackers here lately from Seattle. I mean they got Herring and then Hawthorne last year...

just a few names that are set to hit the market this year from Seattle:

DT Alan Branch
LB Leroy Hill
DE Jason Jones
CB Marcus Trufant

probably won't get any these guys but you never know.

I don't really know what to think about Vilma. The fan in me doesn't want to see him go but his best years are behind him.

I've been cogitating that one quite a bit. Ya see him listed as ILB. When I look at him though I see OLB skills, particularly as a 34 rusher. He sounds like a major head case to define as well. Head cases are okay as long as they are corralled (Shockey). The original LT used his out of his brains on cokeness to become a legendary NFL player. In total I think the character/head issues might be a bigger consideration than his playing ability.

Branch- Jax (his former DC) & NE rumored to be interested. 6-6, 325 can sho fill up some NT space

Hill- thought he was an interesting FA target a few yrs back. don't think he translates to 34 well. He's had some pot & domestic violence charges too if remembering right

Jones- has been linked to his ex-coach Fisher in STL. A great 4-3 guy that can play both DT & DE well. Maybe too spendy for not as good of a 34 fit

Trufant- Now 32 it's just a matter of how much gas he has left. I know he has had increasing multiple injuries. He was down to be a slot cover guy in Seattle. He'll be a vet minimum so if they brought him in for a look it couldn't hurt too bad.
