Correct, this is one of the oldest NFL sayings ever, 3 years for a WR.

Obviously in recent years that has changed a bit as College and NFL offenses have blended more together, and College WRs have become more sophisticated.

But there are still a lot of College WRs that are terrible running routes and are just physically better.

I’m still not convinced we don’t try and trade Olave. Would love to wash our hands of that worry. Sign Jennings, draft a guy early.

I don't understand your point. Of course they are, but they clearly got him as a lotto ticket. They gave up basically nothing and are seeing if his raw talent hits and light comes on.

If it doesn't they essentially gave up nothing. It was a great move.

That doesn't mean you let it effect your offseason decision making in any appreciable way

I'd hate to make an already abysmal WR room worse, but I would extremely hesitant to pay Olave

my point is i'm completely fine with the totality and numbers of the WR room assuming we use a top 3 rd pick on a WR in the draft. If there's a near vet minimum type guy to add, fine but i wouldn't spend much cap on someone right now.

What's the point of meeting a numbers quota if most of them stink

you don't know they stink.

We're talking about filling out the 4-6 spots if we're assuming a draft pick can be good enough to be our 3rd WR.

Agreed but it’s moreso the blood clots. Nobody is making much of a deal of it yet but that can be a career ender if he has a second one

Luckily we don’t have to make that decision before the draft and know whether or not we got Tate

I think we should have at least one known quantity addition to help with Shoughs development

If you are bringing in a vet simply for the sake of helping with the development, and to be a presence in the locker room; then your first look should be for any guys that played under Moore.

Keenan Allen right? Spotrac says $6.8mm projection, we should sign him if accurate

Last year Allen only wanted to play for either LA team or the Bears

Fant is a TE. Etienne is a RB.
We are talking about WRs, I don't lump all "Pass Catchers" together, that is nonsense.
And if you are relying on Polk at all you are nuts. That is a lottery ticket.
You don't prepare for the offseason counting on someone like Polk. If he hits, great.

Teams like New Englad have used their RBs and TE's as primary pass catchers for years. You can't refuse to lump them in and complain about lack of receiving targets/ weapons, that's bullshite.

No one is "relying" on Polk. We are relying on Polk to be the 5th-7th option. That's way different and to act like he will be our WR1-2 is dramatic.

We are preparing to give players a realistic chance to see their potential. You actually think that sounds crazy?

Shough has already talked about practicing with Polk and they have spent time together.

Sorry that you and others actually hope that Polk and our other WR's fail, its pretty pathetic.

How do we know the saints don’t really just view him as a lottery ticket though?

I am not complaining of receiving targets

I am complaining of Wide Receivers. I hope this helps

I have to ask: Are you mentally well? In what universe do you think that is what is happening?

There is a very realistic expectation that Polk and our draft pick can end up our WR3/ WR4.

At the same time we have fans that essentially hope Polk/ Vele fail so they can say "i told you so" and try to get us to add some washed 30 y/o. Its weird.

Same. I don’t think it’s crazy either. If we draft a WR in rd one I’d say it becomes even probable.
