I think that we all agree that it is WAY past time for a rebuild? But how? What would you do?

Contracts are such that if you cut a player, or renegotiate, that the money would end in the dead money pool like Ramczyk, Winston, Peat, Jordan, Carr, etc., or push the money down the line AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. So how do the Aint's rebuild at this point?

Fire Dennis Allen and Carmichael

Tank.

Do a real HC Search

I recommend hiring:

Aaron Glenn as HC
Ben Johnson as OC
Brian Flores as DC

Restructure Carr, either he takes a pay cut with the ability to be traded to start somewhere else or be the most expensive clip board holder in the NFL, but he shouldn't take another snap in NO.

Trade Mike Thomas for draft picks

Draft the future QB and OL.

I agree with all of that 100% but how do you get rid of the salaries? Ramcyck, Peat, Winston, etc without pushing it down the road again

We need a leader as head coach. That is the foundation.

A rookie QB isn’t fixing this team. There’s always a “dream QB class”, and no QB is a guaranteed winner. As much as you think you “know” this is the guy, you don’t. You need to build the team.

Let the old contracts like MT13, Carr and Peat expire without extensions.

You can keep McCoy and Ruiz, Ram is coming to the end of his career but still serviceable. You have to find a LT and LG. Next find a pass rusher.

In ‘25 you can draft a rookie to compete with Carr, similar to Alex Smith and Mahomes, or Flacco and Lamar Jackson. It’s a team sport. Continuing to buy lottery ticket QBs makes you the Browns or the Jets.

That makes our window for competing for a championship around 2026-2030.

Quit posting. Ben Johnson will have whatever HC job he wants that is open in the nfl next year. Flores isn’t leaving his job unless it’s to be a HC. Be a bit more realistic.

Whatever we do, it has to start with the higher ups admitting we’re not actually in a win now window. By swallowing that pill we stop adding void years, and extending aging players just for the sake of continuity.

We can’t get out of Carr’s contract until after next year at the earliest, so take your lumps now, turn out the aging/bloated contracts, stack picks wherever possible and inject cheap youth into the lineup. If we’re going to be bad, embrace it.

Might as well keep DA and tank if that's the plan

The Saints have the oldest roster in the NFL, there's no extending in the future

In today’s NFL, hiring a defensive minded HC is stupid.

Ben Johnson should be the top HC candidate. We won’t get him though.

This is the bed we've allowed ownership/management to make, so now we have to lie in it.

We just have to eat those repercussions and accept our rebuild will take longer than normal since our management was inept the last several years.

We absolutely CANNOT keep going as we are.

Fire Dennis Allen IMMEDIATELY and allow Pete Carmichael to resign if he so chooses. If he doesn't, terminate him anyway.

Start getting your coaching search underway and allow them to start from scratch on their staff.

Keep a few key young pieces from the roster. Everyone else can be traded, cut, or allowed to have their contracts run out.

You have to start COMPLETELY over.

Why would Ben Johnson leave his OC job to be an OC for someone else? He’s only leaving Detroit to be a HC. We gotta be realistic.

I agree we definitely need a true head coach.

Not a subcontractor type who is either going to call the defensive plays or just offensive plays.

I remember John harbaugh used to be the special teams coach I think for the Eagles and the Ravens really kind of went outside the box and hired him to be the head coach.

I'm not saying that that's what I hope the Saints do but thinking in a different way would be awesome.

When the time comes to hire a new coach let's not hire a retread.

But we aren't giving up any cap hell. We added more. Loomis is still trying to win.

That’s so wrong. Your coach of the year will likely be a former defensive coordinator. And these guys are doing fine. If A-A-Ron didn’t get hurt, Robert Saleh would be leading his division. Leadership and team matter.

How are Brian Daboll, Kevin Stefanski, and Frank Reich working out this year?

New GM and Coach needs tank 2 yrs to rebuild a aging roster. Front office might win 3 games a season with 60 mil dead money. The team will be young with future NFL stars.

Move Loomis further up in the organization. Promote Jeff Ireland to the Loomis position. Apparently, you really can’t fire Loomis.

Fire every coach and assistant coach. Fire the trainers and medical staff. Fire everyone that directly works for the team. Goodbye field personnel who can’t give the fans solid end zones. Fire the people who wash the uniforms. All must go.

The new GM and head coach can rehire the few office people and support personnel that are hard working and competent.

Previous loyalties and malcontents need to go. Purge all the shite. No one is safe. Fire the janitors and toilet cleaners.

Remove all complacency and install quality top down. Anyone left on staff that helped character assassinate the future HOF Saints QB, goodbye.

Remove the cancer and rot. It’s long overdue.

Cannot have them make lateral moves.

He has a no trade clause, has no reason to take a pay cut, and is not a team player to take a team friendly deal unless it is 100% on his terms. You have to let 2024 play out without touching his deal, and eat the $10M cap hit in 2025 and just move on.

Trade Mike Thomas for draft picks

Expiring contract. But even if it was not, what do you realistically get for a guy that has missed 46 of the last 66 games (assuming he does not play again this year) due to at least 4 leg/ankle injuries? Best bet is to let him walk and hope he signs for enough to earn a comp pick.

According to Over the Cap, even if the Aint's trade Thomas, they eat close to 8 million on the 2024 cap

Of the 14 coaches currently slated to have their teams in the playoffs, 12 have offensive backgrounds. All 7 in the NFC, 5 of 7 in the AFC.

The 2 non offensive coaches in the AFC are Harbaugh and Tomlin. Each was hired at least 15 years ago.
