Saints cornerback P.J. Williams was jailed on accusations of driving while drunk in New Orleans early Wednesday, according to records.

Authorities booked the 25-year-old on counts of drunk driving and careless driving about 1:10 a.m., and he had bonded out of custody a little more than three hours later.

Williams played college football at Florida State and helped the Seminoles win a national championship before becoming a third-round selection for the Saints in 2015.

He’s been a regular in the defensive backfield the past two years, intercepting three passes as New Orleans reached the postseason’s divisional round and the NFC title game.

...Williams' contract expires this offseason. Unless he signs a new deal with the Saints, he will become a free agent.

No other details were immediately available.

This could hurt the Saints when the NFC Championship gets replayed.

Thanks Goodell! Driving in New Orleans is bad enough without being intoxicated. Well worth the price of an uber.

I'm sure he can plead temporary insanity and I guarantee you there are some judges in New Orleans that would sympathize and let him off light. I know one personally, in fact.
