Fashanu getting more and more buzz.. if we really want him, might have to move up some.

If Fashanu and Bowers are both gone, I’d want to trade back.

Penning, Peat and Ram were the 3 questions.
Ram it seems is done. Peat unsigned. Penning is a big one. Has he spent the off-season correcting? Does he have the desire to play anywhere? What is the chance of young bench players moving into starting roles?

I have faith the new OL coach will salvage Penning.

Maybe not a LT, but at least a monster Guard.

Fashanu would solidify LT. Penning can slide to RT if Ram can’t play, given DA recently said the vision for Saldiveri was to be a starter

Sure, but how far? The Saints still need a tackle, left or right. Don't think they'd want to miss out on Latham, Fautanu, Fuaga, or maybe Mims by moving back too far.

And I'd pass on Bowers for any of those but Mims. An OT is so much valuable than a TE, and the hit rate on OTs in the 1st round is much higher.

I like Fashanu the most after Alt. I wouldn’t mine Latham. Fautanu is an elite guard to me. He is super athletic but I think he will get beat alot on the edge against speed to power rushers. He just doesn’t look like a tackle out there and has to take more steps in pass pro which leaves him open. Not big on Mims. I’m not looking to take on another tackle project in Mims. If you liked what you saw thus far in penning then may take that risk but that is not the case.

Edit: Watched some more film on Fuaga and he interests me. Has some pretty nice abilities you can work with. Initially thought he stood straight up and lacked bend and just mauled weaker competition. However, he has a really nice set pass set with quick feet. Also showed some nice reps against Latu.

All these guys outside of Alt have flaws honestly and carry some significant risk. I think fautanu is probably the next safest but at guard not tackle.

What does Fashanu having 8.5” hands mean? Looks to be one of smallest if not the smallest hand size for an OT ever. Does it matter?

I just measured my hands and they are just over 9” - middle aged white, 6’ 180

Don't know. Always heard more about a tackles feet and how he used his hands.

As long as he can grip inside pads on run blocks it is a non issue.

there are ways to window dress an O-line under construction.

Resign Peat, put at LT. Penning to Guard where he should have always been. Road grader. Draft best RT prospect you can.

Penning would be one of the most athletic guards in NFL history. No, you don’t just throw him there. You do everything possible to make him work at tackle because you desperately need him to work at tackle.

I’ve always thought Fashanu would be a pipe dream. But with the news about Ram, it wouldn’t be a bad thing to trade back a few picks and snag Fuaga later for RT. He’s solid as hell

Fuaga and fantanu are both solid.

I think all 3 of them hit to be honest.

I think all 3 are great prospects but again its highly unlikely that all 3 will become dominant NFL pros. Unfortunately, we see it every year. 1 or 2 hit big the other ones just don’t due to various reasons. To me I just think Alt and Fantanu are a little better than Fuaga but I wouldn’t hesitate taking any at 14.
