??. I don’t care if PFF rates him a Zero.
He’s a playmaker. I know he’s given up some plays this year. But he would probably be better w us (the only system & coach he’s known in the league).
& we have him a way for nothing.

I don't think anyone wanted to give him away. He became a problem, and the saints felt they had to move him.

He's like Diggs for Dallas.
He makes some great plays, but he also costs you on the other end. He'd be exposed without Marcus Williams and the elite DL play, I'm glad we're not gonna pay him though

It was a childish response. Start the season & see how he does. Young, healthy, productive - if he’s such a problem that you REALLY have to get rid of him fine. But do it last week.
& trade him to the Texans for the 7th before you give him to the Eagles!!!!!

I would rather have that problem than not have that problem but I guess that is why the Eagles are undefeated and the saints are 3-5.

We have no room to sign him to a big extension like he wants. We could have had him this year but that’s it. I’m pretty sure he wasn’t leading us to the Super Bowl this year.

Philly will have played an absolute trash QB schedule this year until they get Dak later in the year. They really don’t be tested until they get to the SB

This might be a fair point BUT again if we sent him to an AFC team I could disagree & respect your opinion BUT we sent him to the f’ing Eagles!!!!!!!!! We have lost to them 2 years straight - losing to them put us out & them in the playoffs.

Again, you must know sending him to the Eagles was NOT the answer. They were a top 5 team NOT to send him to. Having him not play a down for us is better than sending him to Philly.

The vast majority of this board was against us getting rid of him. I wish we hadn't either, I like Loomis, didn't like getting rid of CGJ though.

Agree with this
He's a decent player but right now their CB1 and CB2 are the two top performing CBs in the league. He is by far their worst coverage DB, he is getting targeted a LOT and is giving up a ton of yardage. But he's turning a few of those opportunities into picks because he's an aggressive player
I agree we got too little for him but y'all are acting like we just traded him on a whim. He was carried out of practice while screaming frick you at the coaches, I don't know what you think else was gonna happen from that

No one wanted to get rid of him. They just knew they wouldn't resign him for what he was set on getting so thought they would be better off getting something through a trade.
Yes, we could have gotten a compensatory pick but it would have been less than we traded for and that is if we even ended up with one because they are not guaranteed depending on your own team's activities in free agency.
He's having the best season of his career right now at Philly, maybe that team fits him better?
The biggest loss with CJGJ is not the direct defensive production from him but the swagger he brought to the defense. I felt he was, if not the heart and soul of this defense, at least the attitude of this defense.

We don’t know what’s going on in the negotiations, but I think the fact that the Saints gave money to Maye and TM, made it harder to resign CGJ.
I think the saints struggled with trying to get younger, and keep hold with the Win now mode.
I think with the improvements of Taylor, they don’t regret trading CGJ maybe they regret not getting more for him.
But imagine if we had Lattimore, Taylor, Adebo, Tyrann, and CGJ… oooweee. But they signed Maye and couldn’t go back on that.
You can want more than a 5,6, and 7, but if thats all what being offered, and you don’t want to let him walk for nothing, you make the deal.

he was pissed and refused to play for us anymore after he learned he was part of the trade we offered for the watson fiasco
after that we only had 2 options, release him outright or cut him because he wasnt going to play for us, he told them he would sit out the year if need be to get out of here since we told him he was no longer wanted here.
so get it straight, the saints fricked the whole situation up with him by allowing the deal they offered for watson to go public and then got what little they could to trade him, before he just walked out the door for nothing
