The problem this year is none of the QBs are worth that, even.
Why? Because people doing mocks on the internet said so? Most of them did not think much of Mahomes either. Most hated Lamar Jackson.

No.

Because professional scouting services and data analysts have said so.

I was listening to one data guy talk about how the worst 1st round QB in his model was Geno Smith who was graded at 86...the highest this year is an 80.

Mahomes had infinite talent.

Mahomes wasn't even the 1st QB picked in his year and slid to #10.

The only QB with physical talent like Mahomes this year is Willis. Willis has shown nothing other than those physical tools as a college QB. He's a literal tools-project when Mahomes had multiple years of major production in a BCS conference.

Mahomes threw for over 5k yards and 41 TDs in a BCS conference in his 3rd year.

Willis didn't play his 3rd year but threw for less than half of Mahomes's 3rd year total in a joke of a conference.

Pickett's 3rd year saw him throw for just over 3k yards and a whopping 13 TDs (with 9 picks, to boot) in an inferior conference to Mahomes' conference.

Corral is the best. His offense at Ole Miss under Lebby and Freshwater had him going thru so many progressions from reading the box to multiple RPO progressions. Dude is polished mentally

He's a tough motherfricker, too.

He's my pick for QB if I'm drafting one this year.

Hope Saints get lucky and get Cross then grab that monster DT from Georgia with the 2nd #1. Trade up in early 2nd grab the best W.O. and use their own 2nd on best free safety available.
I would trade everything below the 4th round get back in the 3rd draft another W.O. and then the best runner back on the board, should be a good one there. Then best interior offensive linemen in the 4th, Usually good value with those guys later.
I would be one happy camper if it went like this.

Chris Simms had Brees ranked as the 16th best QB in the league a few years ago

Any quarterback we get in this draft will be a wasted pick.

Isn’t he projected to go in the 2nd round?

There have been reports he will go top 15 this afternoon. Apparently teams really like him

Serious question - who was the last good QB to be drafted in the 2nd round?

Drew Brees

I think he had Carson Wentz at either 16 or 18 just last offseason?

no joke.

never say never.

but I wouldn't feel great about it considering we already signed Jameis and Dalton.

but both are on just short deals.

Idiotic move at the time and in hindsight.

Unless Rodgers got a. hurt, b. retired, or c. switched teams, 2 of which almost happened multiple times. Thus the term “insurance” for Love.

Funny you say hindsight, because you clearly lack it. Dont take my post and quote each individual sentence in response.

I mean rider has everything you want in a prospect.

To me he is probably the safest qb prospect to pick in this yrs draft.

Corral has a lot of upside - he's fast, athletic, twitchy, and has a quick release. There are zero concerns about his arm.

Only concern is his size and getting hurt. I also would want to know if corral could run a pro style offense. Much of that offense was quick read stuff.

I just don’t see how the Saints take a QB in first round this year. None are really top prospects. With the holes the Saints have, a QB would be a wasted pick in first round.

OT and WR are more glaring needs. Plus let’s see what Winston can do. I do think QB will need to be addressed in the draft in later rounds. Maybe Carson Strong from Nevada or Billy Zappe from WKU.

Burrow was as close to safe bet as ypu could get.

Actually, if they are planning to package Winston with one or both of their 1st Rd picks, it makes perfect sense. I'm not advocating that strategy given this year's QB class but that would be consistent with prior Saints strategies.
