He needs to be your LT. He got better in the 2H. This is essentially his preseason.

Except its not preseason and almost cost us a win. This strategy of letting him play through it only works if we win despite his play.

My point being thats not a very sound strategy and honestly DA will give him a game or two to rebound but thats it.

The strategy led him to make adjustments and play a pretty clean 2H

Penning is a big hoss at guard, could be a great run blocker! Make a trade and get a LT from someone ready to throw in the towel!

That strategy was providing him help and chipping the defender but if your constantly doing that it limits your offense. He needs to be able to do his job without help.

He did. And he wasn't helped on every pass play as I could see. This kid has almost no starting snaps in the nfl.

To all the people melting over Mr Penning the dude has 2 f@cking starts at LT(One of if not the hardest position in football).

Carr wasn’t sacked and went 10-13 165 yds and a tud in the 2H. Safe to say the offense wasn’t limited. Penning was 1 on 1 a bunch after the first series in the 3Q

Those are fair points. Part of the problem is he was drafted in the first round. Many expect olineman drafted that high to be ready to play and have basic fundamentals down. We compare him to Armstead but remember Armstead was a mid round pick. Fair or not, the fact he was a first round pick brings more pressure on him to succeed and succeed quickly.

This is a severe overreact, man. He looked rough in the first half but he got better in the second. It’s a long season and he’s barely played. Give it time

Armstead was taken with a pretty high 3rd round pick, my man. That’s not a mid round pick at all.

I thought the definition of a mid round pick was 3rd round. More likely than not you dont find many NFL starters in third round. You’re acting like a third round pick is a high pick?

Carr was still under pressure. Penning played better but he was helped. Even on the third down throw to Shaheed that sealed the game, the FB stayed in, Taysom chipped as well. Saints did great but Penning had a ton of help. Again you can do this for a game or two, but if Penning doesn’t improve this stuff hampers your offense. He needs to be able to handle defender without help- its his job.

His first half was pretty awful. Flash backs to the saints hopelessly trying to block Demarcus ware circa 2009

I thought the same thing at first. If he wasn't quick enough they would have known this a long time ago. He's been scouted properly and he's been with our team for over a year. It's technique and reps is all he needs
