ESPN reporting there's smoke to this deal. I'd like that. They have picks and players. I love all the different teams being interested, better deal for us

We've done well with past Charger players.

Chargers are gonna win 11 games and make playoffs. I'll be pretty shocked if they fire their coach

Reportedly getting fans involved in the new city is priority 1, you do that by winning a SB. Payton with that ubertalented young qb on a team with alot of talent in a city with great weather makes alot of sense for Sean. Teams have fired coaches after going to playoffs if they had a guy in mind to get them to the next level. Makes alot of sense, it's good for us no matter what

All empty wins. That Chargers coach is a loser and pretty bad in critical situations. They have no shot winning anything with him. They are basically just wasting their talent with him.

Different ownership, but the Chargers fired Schottenheimer after going 14-2

If Chargers get bounced in the Wild Card I could see them cutting bait with Staley

So Chargers make the playoffs and fire their coach. Their pick will be in the 20’s….how is this good? Only good I see is Sean in AFC. If they win a game, we picking in the upper 20’s.

I’ve watched/kept track of the chargers a lot this season. Want no part of Staley in New Orleans.

The problem with the Chargers will be Rooney rule.

To fire a coach with 11 wins, they have to be 100% they are getting CSP. But I think even in a trade they have to go through Rooney.

After last years Dolphins debacle, the league will hammer a team doing purely sham interviews

Why would you have to interview someone else if you trading for a coach? That seems dumb, and it sounds about right for the nfl

The Rams won the Super Bowl in LA and no one cared. No way Sean revives a dead fan base out there. LA is a Lakers/Dodgers town.

Have any of you all seen him coach? He’s horrible. They go one and done in the playoffs they’ll easily hand him his walking papers. Chargers fans hate him and he’s personally cost them a couple games this year with insane 4th down calls.

Your options dictate your decisions. If Payton is not available to them then yes, it would seem a bit illogical to fire the coach that just lead you to 11 wins an a playoff spot. But if you have a Super Bowl winning HC with a long record of success available to you, that decision making process changes.

Think of it like this. You may really like the cute girl you met in the Quad. You don't have any strong desire to leave her for someone else and no reason to...until Margot Robbie opens your bedroom door naked (like in the Wolf of Wall Street). Suddenly, you now have a new, very desirable option you didn't have before.
