Interesting that he brings up guns banned in England. He should look a little closer at the laws there before talking about this because in England, You as an individual do NOT have the inherent right to protect yourself. If someone breaks into your home or braces you and means you harm, then you do not have the right of defending yourself with any weapon. Anyone remember what happened to George Harrison a few years in his home?

Based on the lack of response, I'm guessing I was correct. No one even realizes why the second amendment exists in the first place. All this talk about crime completely misses the point and the big overall picture.

I want to congratulate you on being a fricking moron! A firearm.....is just that, A FIREARM. It is an inanimate object.....in other words THE FIREARM DID NOT CHOOSE TO SHOOT WILL SMITH! It is a terrible tragedy, and I understand that CSP is grieving. BUT If his normal position on firearms is as "railing against guns".....he is a moron. Guns do not kill people, people kill people. You could take every fricking gun out of this country, and there will still be murders. I have been on plenty of homicide scenes involving knives.

Not only to protect against foreign invaders.....also to protect against a tyrannical government.

It is also an issue of personal liberty.

I disagree with SP on this, but now is not the time argue with him on this. I am going to respect his right to his opinion because he is emotional over losing a friend.

It is an emotional response.

Let's blame an inanimate object instead of looking at and resloving the actual problem.

Much easier to do that than to have a real conversation about the actual problems.

I firmly support the 2nd amendment, but it should be harder to buy a handgun in America. I bought a handgun a few months ago, no issues on my record, so I knew it wouldn't be a problem. I walked out in about 5 min flat. Now, I want to utilize my rights as much as anyone but I wouldve easily understood and respected the process if I had to wait for 2-3 days in order for there to be a more thorough background check.

Most gun supporters wont budge one inch on gun ownership rights, but can't most of us agree that it is maybe just a bit too easy to buy a handgun? I'm not talking about a rifle or a shotgun, I mean a handgun that will likely only shoot two things, paper targets and (hopefully never) a human being.

Thankyou infantry. 5 pages without a single mention of the real reason for gun rights. Just shows how much people really miss the point. A single criminal creating a crime, and somehow that causes people to completely lose sight of history and the world around them.

Legal guns and background checks aren't the problem. Criminals ILLEGALLY getting their hands on guns and having no respect for human life is the issue.

I mean, this isn't political board but I feel like issues like this people are very shortsighted. Nobody makes you pull the trigger it's the person behind the gun. How about focus on the core issue here? Like reduce poverty, increase education, fix infrastructure and social programs. That's only a small sample of what we can do. Guess what that does? Significantly reduce crime as it's scientific fact based on the data and studies we have available. I don't think guns should ever be taken away but I also don't think people who enjoy recreational shooting needs shite like recoil triggers on their guns making them nearly full auto weapons legally. Loopholes like that should be closed. As someone who hunts and likes to shoot, I'm willing to compromise a little there but if you think you're going to just take my rifles away and punish the 99% of the sane people out there who use them frick YOU!

Taking guns away is the simple and easy solution. Nobody wants to go down the long hard road and target the source of the problems that would not only fix gun violence but a plethora of other issues in America. That's how politics are today though right? Always take the shortest and easiest route to the problem. Not that taking guns away would be easy but y'all probably get the point.

Oh I would bet my house that it wasn't either.

Not trying to use the "if it saves one life" line, but honestly, would waiting 3 days be that big of an infringement of rights?

Should a woman with a stalker be required to wait 3 days?

I can find documented cases where woman have died waiting on the background check.

Are you really in danger by waiting those extra 3 days to pick up your gun from the store?
