per La Canfora. Meh. Just go with Tennant, IMO, though it would be nice to have him backing up all 3 interior line positions.

I think it would be good if we can get him for 1 year and have Tennant learn under him. We are thin at interior linemen. So he could serve as backup in case one of these guys go down. U never know Kruetz may come in at a bargain price.

They certainly aren't taking any chances. SB or bust.

PFT says he turned down a 1yr/$4m deal from the Bears, so not so sure about the cheap thing.

Yeah, they're doing the opposite of what I thought they would, saying frick next year's FA class, let's get shite done this year and figure them out when the come.

Kreutz was good. He graded out at the bottom of the league last year however. It was easily his worst season. They do need some experience at the position so he would be a good backup (if the price is right).

That's why I'm not a huge fan of this. I really think we just need a cheap, mediocre player to stick between the best pair of OGs in the NFL, and I think Tennant can fill that role if not exceed it.

Let's face it, the Bears offensive line was horrible last year. Maybe Kreutz still has game. With the Saints he'd be playing between two of the best guards in the league.

this. quick, name either guard for the Bears last season. It was amazing Tice had that line anywhere near the playoffs. Kreutz was the only constant.

According to Stats, Inc., Kreutz was responsible for allowing one sack. But you have to know what a blocker's responsibilities are in order to determine if he is truly responsible for a sack. As a rule, centers don't give up a lot of sacks. They usually are involved in double-team blocks on pass plays. Kreutz did not have a great season in 2010. But I don't think he was a problem, either.

FYI, the Bears gave up 56 sacks. Kreutz, one.

Yea I'm curious bout those numbers as well. Kreutz would bring experience and leadership to the o-line. And yea hopefully Tennant is ready to beast it out and easily wins the starting job. But if he struggles or has a minor injury I would much rather have Kreutz as a fallback option. If we stick with Tennant and Fig Newton we are one play away from Cecil being our one and only center.

Maybe a better option will become available closer to camp but usually teams have their one first and second options at center and just camp bodies get cut. Center is one of the least likely positions you will see a good player get cut after training camp. It could happen but I would hate to lose out on Kreutz now and nobody better get cut down the line. Plus I'm not so sure he wouldn't sign with us for cheaper than the bears. He might have felt they owed him and been trying to prove a point and keep his pride and now he might be realizing that his options on the market might not get much better than a superbowl contender like the Who Dats

LINK From Pro football focus. They said Goodwin was the 23rd ranked center last year. And Goodwin's rating (-5.1) was still well above Kreutz's (-18.8).
