I would be very happy if our draft went like this:

R1: 29 - Nolan Smith, DE, Georgia
R2: 40 - Mazi Smith, DT, Michigan
R3: 71 - Steve Avila, G, TCU
R4: 115 - Tank Bigsby, HB, Auburn
R5: 147 - Jalen Moreno-Cropper, WR, Fresno St.
R5: 166 - Jakorian Bennett, CB, Maryland
R7: 228 - Mohamoud Diabate, LB, Utah
R7: 259 - Brandon Hill, S, Pittsburgh

Overall Draft Grade: A

If there are things I have learned about the Saints in the past:

Half of those picks will be used in trades to move around

and

We won't pick the needs we think we need early

Payton isn't here anymore.

We desperately needed a #1 WR and got one in the first round.

I use to be all into the draft.. Studying up all the positions that we needed and knowing at least 2 or 3 players at that position.. And the Saints either picked another position or traded up to get another position that I considered not a big need... The trading away draft picks sent me to the moon...

There is no way we take Nolan Smith if available. The Saints would never pick an athletic freak to rush the QB. We prefer bull rush specialists from Division 2 schools.

Outside of LSU, I don't watch a whole lot of other teams. With that said, who would be a good downhill, sledgehammer half back to keep an eye out for in the draft? I know many here were high on Tyjae Spears, but his skilletset seems more comparable to what we already have with Kamara. I'm hoping we can find someone who can run downhill and is a force between the tackles.

All wrong.
I don't see a single Ohio state player.

R1: 29 - Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
Best all-around RB in this draft and probably over the last several years.

R2: 40 - Mazi Smith, DT, Michigan
NT size and strength with outstanding burst for someone his size. Best all-around DT in the draft. Can push the pocket and will almost always command a double team against the run and pass.

R3: 71 - Joe Tippman, G/C, Wisconsin
Can easily move to guard and provide starting caliber depth at center. 3rd best guard prospect in the draft. Wish Avila was at this spot, but Tippman is a great consolation prize.

R4: 115 - Ronnie Hickman, S, Ohio State
can play deep and has the potential to develop into a true single high safety, which is what makes Dennis Allen's defense run on all cylinders.

R5: 147 - Kobie Turner, DT, Wake Forest
3-tech that complements Maize Smith.

R5: 166 - Viliami Fehoko, DE, San Jose State
Has the length and size Dennis Allen covets at the DE position.

R7: 228 - Will Mallory, TE, Miami
Brings top-end speed and potential at the TE position.

R7: 259 - Tyson Bagent, QB, Shepherd
Small school prospect with good tools and potential.

If Robinson, Torrance, Kancey or some other top 20 type prospect doesn't fall to the 29 spot, i hope we trade back.

I know what you mean, it takes the fun out of everything. Like doing your homework and research on these kids, and then just looking forward to seeing if they would actually draft or consider some of these guys you researched on. Lol With that said, I'm really impressed with the work that some of you guys have put in, I mean your homework that you've assembled in these prospective mock drafts is impressive. Some of you should pursue careers with NFL teams!
