The more smoke about us trading up for a QB that pops up just makes me feel like it isn’t likely to happen.

Everyone thinks this QB class sucks and there’s still likely still going to be 3+ QBs taken in the 1st round

Oh I know. I remember how Allen was this huge enigma. He had all the tools but his numbers especially his completion percentage where below average at Wyoming. Still, he was this great talent. I've said all along that I felt Willis was Allen in this draft.
That isn't to say Willis will turn into Allen in the NFL. It's just Willis is a great talent who can go either way. I'm not in favor of drafting him but the Saints situation with Winston fits what Willis needs. He can sit & not have to worry about playing right away. Willis definitely isn't a day one starter but in the right environment with the opportunity to learn & grow, he could be special.

Seriously. My buddy is a big Bolts fan and wants OT. Made me feel like Saints are in a good position at 16. Grab one if the studs are still there. If not WR, DB, or maybe a QB there, depending on who it is. Don’t package the 2 firsts though. Trading essentially 2 firsts, a second and third for Willis or Pickett is moronic.

I woukd have been pissed if we drafted either at 18 much less moving up costing us two firsts.

Willis isn't close to Allen in terms of physical talent, though. He may be a slightly better runner and maybe an 1/8 of a step faster.
Allen is also HUGE to go with his running/arm.

You don't draft 1st round QBs to sit them. The whole advantage of drafting QBs in the 1st is to get them cost controlled for 5 years. If you waste one of those years it's bad. If you waste 2, it invalidates the entire EV+.
The place you don't want to be as a franchise is having to make a decision paying a guy franchise QB money when he's just starting to show improvement that may make him a good QB, which is what sitting Willis for 2 years would do. Unless he takes a Josh Allen-like jump in year 3 we would be in no man's land.

Mahomes didn't start his rookie year either. Alex Smith did. The only start Mahomes had was in a meaningless final game on the road in Denver in 2017.

In hopes that 2-3 years from now will be the next Aaron Rogers or Patrick Mahommes

Which my posts in this thread have specifically mentioned. Successful rookie day one starting QBs are rare. For every Joe Burrow or Justin Herbert, there's 10 failures, mostly because those guys aren't ready to start yet they get thrown in the fire. Because of that, you get guys like Sam Darnold "seeing ghosts" on the field. They are unprepared from a mental & technique point where trial by fire only creates more bad habits. These QBs are usually out of the league in a few short years or signed as career back ups.

There is no can't miss QB prospect in this class. I've said that a thousand times. In terms of Willis, he's the most physically gifted of the class but he's not a day one starter. Just because I say that doesn't mean I want the Saints to draft him. I'm just speaking in terms of his outlook overall. A tard like yourself is incapable of separating those two points though.
