The New Orleans Breakers hired Larry Fedora, formerly of the University of North Carolina.
...
Fedora coached Southern Miss from 2008-11 and had a record of 34-19. He then went to North Carolina from 2012-18. With the Tar Heels, Fedora was 45-43. His record was stronger but he was 5-18 in his last two seasons at Chapel Hill.
The USFL reboot starts in mid-April and... at least for this year... will be exclusively played in Birmingham.

Is this a should we thread? Should the Saints try to steal Fedora from the Breakers?

Bad arse.
I’m actually looking forward to this league. New Orleans will do well with spring football.

I've been a Breakers fan my whole life.
Edit- Is Breakers paying homage to the city's current car jacking problem?

Jesus he was one of the hottest names in NCAA Coaching only like a few years ago, and now this is the only job he could get?

Guy was a kind of a jerk when he left USM. He and the Athletic Director (who was also done using USM) announced they were leaving right after Southern Miss won the CUSA championship in 2011. Rather than going to a better bowl, they decided to award themselves a vacation with a trip to the Hawaii Bowl against a 7-5 Nevada team. After many years of frustration, USM fans were looking forward to a bowl vacation trip for the holidays but most couldn't afford a trip to Hawaii, so they were understandably pissed.
Fedora did well at first after his "step up" to UNC with 4 winning seasons out of his first five, an ACC Coastal division championship, and four bowl appearances. However, the last two years 'the wheels came off', with 3-9 and 2-9 seasons and 1-7 records in the ACC both those years.
He was Aranda's offensive coordinator at Baylor for only 1 year (2020); his offense was ranked 99th in scoring and 125th in yards per play.

Fedora is still a pretty polarizing topic among USM fans, i.e. the 3 or 4 of us who haven't thrown away our USM shite yet. I loved it when they hired him. It sent a really good signal.
The problem is, just 4 years later the school did a 180 and tried to make a "safe" decision instead of an aggressive one.
I went to the first home game post-Fedora, in 2012. The stadium was full. The crowd was enthusiastic. I had to park way up US49. When Bower was there I invariably was able to park on-campus.
All that was not squandered away by Larry Fedora. Yeah, people were pissed about the Hawaii Bowl decision, but Fedora was exactly what USM needed when he was hired and he built the program up.

Well, the last coach we hired from the USFL was our best head coach before we hired CSP.
