PFF said that while also giving him a 50.0 grade.

It’s not a stretch to say Davenport has been a disappointment thus far. Especially given that we gave up a lot for him. We’re in win now mode and he’s not done much to help. I hope I’m wrong by the end of the season though.

Davenport through 8 games played: 4.5 sacks

Cam Jordan through 16 games: 1

Its almost as if it takes time for a player to develop.

Hendrickson is in his 3rd year as well.

There’s no doubt the raw tools are there for Davenport. He does some things that make you think he’s going to be ridiculously good. He just needs to do them consistently and keep developing.

How many sacks did Hendrickson have last year? Oh, he was hardly ever active on gameday? So, it takes guys time to develop and we shouldn't proclaim a guy a bust 1 season and 1 game into his career?

Their ratings system probably really deducted a significant amount away from grade due to the play where he failed to hold containment being that the mistake led to a Texans TD. I'm guessing here but that seems like it could be the case.

As I stated it takes time hoping he has the light bulb moment this year.

I noticed that after the first couple of series, Davenport was spying Watson quite a bit. So in some cases, he wasn't asked to put pressure on Watson but just shadow him in case he tried to take off running.

Jesus at the overreaction of our fan base with Davenport. Most of you aren’t even giving him a chance.

Fricking Demarcus Lawrence didn’t have a regular season sack until Week 9 of his second year and look at him now. He’s an animal. Davenport is more raw than most and he’s still learning. The dude is only 23 years old. It took Rankins a few years before he lived up to his billing. Same with Cam Jordan.

Hendrickson is tearing it up. He’s in his third year. It’s very very common that most DL don’t start producing until their third year

This should be the concern from Saints fans especially considering how good of a DL coach Ryan Nielsen is.

I like to take plays to watch Davenport sometimes, both last season and in the preseason. His biggest problem is that most of the time he is our last defender off the line of scrimmage. He doesn’t or hasn’t learned to have that timing yet. It’s hard to be successful when you’re always a step behind. Sometimes he makes up for it with his raw ability but if he doesn’t improve his get off then he’ll never be anything special. I still have hope that he can improve and be good though.

Hendrickson wasn’t good enough to even be active for games last year. He put on some weight and expanded his move set and now he’s a beast. He will probably have double digit sacks this year. And it’s his third year.

Defensive lineman commonly make big jumps their third year. Rankins did. Cam Jordan did. Let’s give this guy until the end of next year before we rake him over the coals. He just turned 23. Some of you guys need to relax and be patient. Not everyone is a complete badass coming out of college. Hell, Michael fricking Strahan wasn’t a double digit sack guy or a Pro Bowler until his fourth year. Jesus Christ you guys are miserable

Youngsters Trey Hendrickson and Marcus Davenport were noticed around the quarterback as well.

We drafted him to be on top the QB, not “around” him. That said, I’m not declaring this guy a bust. I’m just saying I’m worried. All of you who are defending him are lying if you’re not a least a little concerned that we haven’t seen more sacks from him up to this point.
