Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reports that the New Orleans Saints have done a conversion to the contract of RT Ryan Ramczyk. The restructure will reportedly clear nearly $10.4 million of salary cap space for the Saints in 2023. Pelissero reports that New Orleans converted $12.92 million of Ramczyk's 2023 base salary into a signing bonus.

Field Yates of ESPN has also reported that the Saints have re-worked the deal of K Wil Lutz. The move creates an additional $1.5 million of cap space in 2023.

should only push money down the line on players we don't intend to keep for 3+ years.

Lutz is one I was hoping to move away from soon...

I imagine our next restructures are:
Lattimore (saves 10mil)
Taysom (saves 7mil)
Kamara (saves 7mil)
Davis (saves 5.5mil)

Questionably: Cut/Trade Post June 1:
Winston (saves 12.8mil)
Peat (saves 11.825mil)
Thomas (saves 1.365mil)

That gets us 18.8mil below the salary cap.

I was hoping Lutz got cut. I thought they might go young and cheap at the position, because there are several younger guys who could equal Lutz.

Saints K Wil Lutz’s restructure is still a one-year deal since he was in the last year of his previous contract. He agreed to a pay cut from the $3.7M he was due this season, but the deal also includes incentives per source. Both sides betting on a bounce-back.

Lutz the Putz should’ve been cut instead.

But at least we have RamPOP!

He still has a high ceiling & he's been damn good in the past.

He either has a bounce back year, or it's his last year here. It is what it is. I think both sides realize this considering that Lutz agreed to take a pay cut.

Im sure i can get an answer here quicker than looking up, why is it that you can only cut 3 players at a certain date?

Everyones talking like we can only let go of 3.

Also, if we only save a million or so on Peat, im not sure he's getting cut.

We'd have to designate a post June 1 cut/trade for Peat to be worth saving.

I do wonder if Peat is willing to take a pay cut, because as much as he's overpaid - we are woefully thin without him

Lutz is going to be fine. He’s way too talented of a kicker not to bounce back. He was coming off a bad injury for a kicker and it was obvious he didn’t trust his foot last year.

Who really cares about a kicker’s ceiling or what he’s done in the past?

Waiting for kickers to “get right” costs you games in the league. Lutz is exhibit A. He missed two in the last game of the year, it’s not like he was showing improvement as the year went on. His touchback% declined a ton as did his accuracy. He had two years to get back to full strength
