On his podcast…

-Said he’d very surprised if Payton coaches anywhere else
-Payton holds the Giants and Cowboys in high esteem but neither are close to the situation he has in New Orleans
-There have been years in the past with much more smoke than right now
-Confirmed that Sean is under contract and Saints would require significant trade compensation
-He does think TV is in his future and that would be the only way he leaves right now
-TV execs pushing this narrative
-Sums it up that he doesn’t believe he will coach anywhere else.

Also mentioned that the Bears aren’t hiring Jeff Ireland and no buzz for any assistants.

I read the book "Payton and Brees: The Men Who Built the Greatest Offense in NFL History" a couple of weeks ago. One of my takeaways was that there was a period of time a few years ago that Payton was exploring other coaching options, but after resolving some issues with Loomis it appears that he has no intention of coaching anywhere else.

So I feel it's either coaching the saints or a TV gig at some point. Not worried about the Cowboys or Giants

Why does Sean Payton not put a statement out squelching these rumors? I will tell you why. Because his agent is putting this stuff out to try get more money.

I fully believe we were close to a rebuild mid 2010s if we didn't have those few amazing drafts

Does it list the issues, by chance?

I've always thought of Loomis as an accountant and not a personnel guy at all.

In high profile positions across the board you don't give rumors the time of day.

It can easily be turned..."why would he even address it if it were not true?" "Something is going on if he is talking about it."

I could go on.

As soon as he’s asked, he will say the same thing he’s always said…he’s coaching here as long as they will have him.

Was shooting the shite w my brother last night, he’s reading too much into the Payton elsewhere rumors.

He through out an interesting concept. Payton to Raiders for Carr. Was an interesting thought, but why would Payton want to go somewhere just to lose one of the primary reasons for him wanting to go there?

Then the next illogical thought was, trade Payton and keep the staff. Couldn’t grasp the idea that Payton would just bring a lot of the guys w him

Nick's good at what he does. I've loved him since his grandparents footed Fletch's lunch bill at the club.

Yeah. I probably wouldn't do it for Carr and like, a lot of picks. Because you have to think - a coach like Payton is going to immediately level up that organization and devalue any picks you get.

I'm glad Nick is dispelling this crap, I'm tired of the looser people in our fanbase actually believing this garbage smokescreen reporting

That’s why Nick is the best. He’s clearly got actual sources, rare for our local beat guys, and I fully trust him. Reports from other national media earlier in the year kind of stated the same thing: that other teams want him but he’s kind of good where he’s at until a TV gig comes calling.

He’s not going to have the type of control with Dallas that he has here. He could potentially have that kind of influence with the Giants that he does here if not more, but he’s facing a bottom 5 roster as far as talent and a QB situation that’s worse than ours. Why would he ride out his next 5-6 years of coaching doing a complete overhaul when he still has a top 5 roster that’s a legit QB and another WR from competing for a SB?

I still believe they’ll need to entice him with someone like Carr, Wilson, Rodgers or a longer term option like Pickett or Corral in order for him to finish out his contract in 2026. If we ride Jameis for another 2-3 years, I can see him bailing and just retiring early

Payton has blatantly said he’ll be here as long as we’ll have him the last time the Payton to Dallas rumors sprang up. He’s staying

Promote him to what? All you're going to do is change this job title and give him new business cards. His actual job responsibilities won't change as long as Loomis is there.
