I honestly dont know how Meredith is still slotted over him at this point just from Preseason.

I view it as a professional courtesy to Meredith who is obviously trying to get back from a major injury. Effort does not appear to be what is holding him back.
and a way to keep Smith hungry.
For some reason Sean and Curtis seem to be really on Smith. I think they expect big things from him this year but identified early that he needed to be ridden hard to achieve his potential so early.

I think Smith might have flashes on and off this year;
some big plays early before he's well-known. Then hit a wall near mid-season, as teams adjust to him. Then another push late, as he, in turn, adjusts to the defenders.
Guys like Ginn and Meredith make him a luxury early on, while he gets used to the NFL. I do think he's probably going to be the 2 by the beginning of next year, barring a big year by Meredith.

I didnt hear anyone hyping him up.
Just saying he will make the team which he will.
Hyping up would be saying he will be the starting running back

He doesn’t show great explosion or patience & vision like say, Pierre Thomas
He literally shows good traits of all 3 of those.

Haven’t seen it yet. He’s a one cut & go guy
like I said he’s clearly adjusting to the nfl speed. These next 2 games will be big for him.

Not sure how you haven’t noticed his vision or explosion. The one play on a screen he did lack patience but overall he’s done fine on allowing his blocks to set up. His vision is literally one of his strong points.

He has 1 good run through a huge hole on the left side
His 6 other carries have been for 3.5 yds
I don’t dislike the guy but he needs to show more to make the team.

Because Meredith has actually proven himself against NFL competition during a regular season. I’m hyped about Smith too but we need to take off the black and gold glasses and temper expectations a little

I think a Cooks/Stills caliber rookie season is possible
Robert Meachem
12 Receptions
289 Yards
3 TDs
Brandin Cooks
53 Receptions
550 Yards
3 TDs
Kenny Stills
32 Receptions
641 Yards
5 TDs
Marques Colston
70 Receptions
1038 Yards
8 TDs
Michael Thomas
92 Receptions
1137 Yards
9 TDs

I dont think smith keeps the spot if meredith comes back like he should.
If meredith comes back healthy i really really like this offense.
Think ben watson will suprise some.
Never should of gotten rid of him to sign ya boy

Is Scott making a push to be the regular returner for kicks?
I think Smith has a pretty good season. 40 for 550 and 5, or something close to that.

Scott has a pop in his running . If yo can’t see this, you don’t know football.

Yarp. People forget how good he was as a 2nd year player with a combo of Cutler/Hoyer/Barkley as his QBs. He was supposedly killing it in camp/preseason last year before his injury. Much of ST was rightfully excited about his signing (for a VERY reasonable 2 year deal), now they're frustrated because he struggled in his first game action in a calendar year.
