New mock from The Sporting News: Pickett & Willis go in the top 8 picks

That's good news for us if it actually plays out like that.

16. New Orleans Saints (from Colts through Eagles): Jermaine Johnson II, EDGE, Florida State (6-4, 254 pounds)
Johnson has gone from having great appeal as a freaky pass rusher to showing a complete game for the outside. The Saints desperately missed the production Trey Hendrickson opposite Cameron Jordan and Johnson can be either a key situational asset or push Marcus Davenport back into that role.
17. Los Angeles Chargers (9-8): Kenyon Green, G, Texas A&M (6-4, 323 pounds)
With Davis off the board to potentially beef up their defensive line, the Chargers have an easy pivot to thinking about their interior offensive line, where right guard is a big weakness next to solid veterans Matt Feiler and Corey Linsley. They hit big-time on Rashawn Slater for starting left tackle and Green is a another powerful, solid pick for immediate impact inside.
18. Philadelphia Eagles (from Saints): Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah (6-3, 237 pounds)
Lloyd is slipping a bit because of his position and how his skill set relates to Georgia's Nakobe Dean, also a strong second-half first-round prospect. The Eagles need more second-level rangy playmaking impact given Kyzir White is a limited place-holder and newcomer Haason Reddick is more of pure edge rushing hybrid around T.J. Edwards.
19. New Orleans Saints (from Eagles): Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa (6-7, 325 pounds)
The Saints look like they're fine bridging at quarterback for another season with the combination of Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton after losing out on Deshaun Watson but they do need to replace left tackle Terron Armstead opposite Ryan Ramczyk. Penning has similar smaller-school big body traits to Armstead with his blend of power and athleticism.

The implication being Davenport gets hurt and misses games because the depth behind him isn’t that good?

Then why TF did we draft Payton Turner?
Get a WR
Get a WR

I mean you can never have too many pass rushers. But I think pressure on the interior would be better for us.

A good pass rusher may be had in the 2nd round since there are so many. I’d rather go that route instead of burning another first on one. Or double dip receivers. 1st and 2nd.

That would be fantastic for us.

This draft has enough talent where the saints should come away with 2 day one starters at 16 and 19.

Pickett and Willis being the QBs we'd have to face this year. Damn if only Brady's old arse stayed retired Winston would be by far the best QB in south
But I would melt if the 3 picks before us are Olave, Davis, and Williams. 3 of the guys I am highest on at 16 all gone.

every time I see someone having NO pick an edge rusher in the first, I wonder if they forgot about Turner already?

These people don’t know our roster we are stacked with edge players.

Usually the same people that thing the Saints are all in on every QB because they took a shot at Watson

This draft is really just not that exciting. I am still struggling to understand why the Saints wanted another 1st in this draft. Overall, it does not appear to be a very strong draft. There are certainly some good players, but not many that really stand out as sure-fire star players/no-brainers.

Willis is such an obvious bust whichever team takes him top 10 should be demoted to the USFL

Man, if Drake London is on the board and we go for an edge rusher, I might melt a little
