I'm genuinely curious, why does it seem more fans care about the salary cap then management? Management doesn't seem to give a shite about the cap or dead money.
Thats where im at. As long as they can put a team together i really dont care much what happens 3 years from now.
Right or wrong Loomis and company have proven this is their preferred method of doing business and people are still shocked every year

What is bad about winning the division and making the playoffs?
Not a damn thing. But you do realize we have one of the worst HC in NFL history right?

We were already there before Carr.

Already in hell with Allen and Carmichael

This isn’t the NBA. No such thing as purgatory in the NFL. In the NFL you try to win and put together a competitive roster every year no matter what. Tanking intentionally is how you end up in purgatory. Look at the 2010 browns, the jets, etc.

I don't want "tons of cap space". I want to be able to re-sign our good draft picks
Like Ram, Kamara, MT13, McCoy, Peat, Lattimore, etc.? You can’t keep everyone players will leave despite if you draft them or not. Diggs left Minn. Tyreke left KC. Devonte Adams left GB. Plus, we are able to sign FAs every year. Demario Davis, Carr, TM7.
Now you can criticize who we sign and who we don’t. But we aren’t any different from anyone else.

We're going to be mediocre-good next year with Carr
Based on personnel, we should be good with a possibility of great. The coaching is the main question, not the players.

It is possible to flip a roster in a couple years.
The Eagles are an example. Went to the Superbowl with basically two different rosters.
Jags are another example that is in the process.

Management created this mess. They're not going to admit it was a mistake and they're not going to risk having to take the medicine until 100% necessary. Nobody admits their strategy is bad until they are forced to.
As long as they have mouthpieces in the media like Nick Underhill to pump irrational sunshine, they know they'll be covered.

As of now, we don't have a DL and have 2 major question marks on the OL. We also need more offensive playmakers and our safeties need a major upgrade. Cam and AK are aging very quickly. Davis is likely on his way there this year (maybe next if we're lucky).
I don't see how you can look at the team following the 2022 Saints and say "They are potentially great", especially losing Davenport, Ellis, and Onyamata.

You listening to Moscona too
Much.
Much.

It likely eliminates your future ability to win a title for possibly 10 years.
Unless he's wildly successful, Carr probably plays here 3 years, 4 tops. It won't take 6-7 years to regroup off of that.

Why hasn't an NFL hired you as GM yet? You obviously know more than anyone with talent and cap space

Pre-Carr it would take 2 years to start a rebuild. Now we're about to push back like 75-80M on future caps in addition to that, and to sign him we had to create more quagmire contracts to clear space. It's going to take a while

Oh wait so we're not allowed to have opinions on roster management?

You should know by now that this is the Saints Talk go-to when you question their idols on Airline Drive.
"Oh, the coach should have passed the ball on 3rd and 6 in the 4th quarter and not run a draw when we had 30 rushing yards all game to that point? Why aren't you an NFL HC then?"
fricking tools.

Some good stuff in this thread
Ultimately I think I’m just way more out on our roster and coaching staff than some of our more optimistic posters
We’ve seen the blueprint for how you can win in the NFL:
- dominant defensive and offensive lines (Bucs)
- elite QB play (Chiefs, Bengals)
- great coaching (Rams, Chiefs)
- serviceable QB play with elite playmakers (Rams, Bucs, Eagles)
You need at least two of those, typically. The Pats had all 4 for a while. We are way closer to zero than two.

You act like every other team is loaded and we are not. The Rams are about to cut Ramsey and Robinson and they just let Bobby Wagner go. Philly won’t be able to afford CJGJ. Titans are shopping D. Henery and traded A.J. Brown last year. Every team has players they can’t resign.
You can question the signing of guys like Peat, TM7 and not keeping guys like Vonn Bell, but those are decision issues, not money issues. Everyone has money issues. Only one or two teams every year have a ton of cap space. Chicago this year and Miami a few years ago.

Signing Carr has given us the serviceable QB. So we are closer today than we were last week. If Penning becomes an average contributor, our offensive line should be really good. A hit on DL in the draft and our defensive front seven becomes really good. Coaching? Can’t really help you there.

Nfl purgatory isn’t the same in the nfl as it is in the nba. Once you make the playoffs it’s a one game scenario anything can happen
Posted on 3/9/23 at 11:48 am to JayWalkTiger
Exactly purgatory isn’t rlly a thing in the nfl this isn’t basketball where start power is everything and your playing teams in a. 7 game scenario
