Not going to argue semantics, as it is a promotion... going from college to NFL.

It's also technically risky, in terms of job security. At LSU, Davis was set as long as the line performs. If Baker (DC) moves on, Davis could have stepped up to DC in theory, and almost certainly would still be on staff either way.

With the Saints, you just brought in a new HC, who is offensive-minded; and now the Saints also saying they aren't going to "reset", but instead chase free agents on the market. Trying to drag the core of this team into the playoffs will be tough, and probably the first sacrifices to be made would be the defensive staff if the team sits around 8 wins a year or 2.

There is nothing to disagree with. NFL players are better than college players. It’s a higher level of football. He is now coaching at a higher level.

The NFL is a promotion from college. It’s the next level.

Yeah but it is highly likely he’d land another DL job now that he is making connections coaching in the NFL.

There’s no risk for someone like Davis. He’d have a job day 1.

You do realize Bo has coached in the NFL before? Maybe he likes it better.....some of you people have the strangest rage anti Saints takes.

Glad we are finally clearing off the band wagon.

I bet you wore a Burrow jersey to the Saints/Bengals game huh?

Not a promotion

Y’all have strange takes sometimes. So if he goes from coaching NFL DL to then coaching High School DL, would you consider that not a demotion of jobs?

Not for Bear Bryant or Nick Saban or Spurrier.

Uh….Saban and Spurrier both were NFL HC. They both made an attempt at the pinnacle.

With today’s college games rules and NIL, the NFL is a better destination for most coaches. Time away, no drama calls 24/7 from players and parasites, no constant texting and plane visits to recruits.

The college game is a constant grind for coaches.

I remember when we tried to make a Saints coach our DC and Payton wouldn’t let him out of his contract.

ETA
I was drawing a blank on his name but it was Ryan Nielson.

So your argument for the NFL not being the highest level of football is your perception of its politics.

Boy do I have some news for you about College Football. You must have missed 2020

That is not what I asked. I asked you to clarify what you meant by professional. Not what I thought you meant.

Guarantee Nick Saban could sell more books than Sean Payton.

More people know who Brian Kelly is than KM. That counts for something.

Can’t say that for any HS vs College coaches, so HS argument isn’t a good comparison.

College coaches in some cases make more money.

Bigger stadiums too…

The only NFL argument is “better athletes”

I’m a Saints & LSU fan, so I’m happy with the hire…sucks for LSU. I agree that there’s an argument to be made regarding the major universities vs NFL job

Mickey doesn’t care about your feelings or your love of LSU. Nor should he.

Not very smart of him to tick off a fan base that attends both games. Especially when I predict a big drop in season ticket sales.

Like it or not LSU is football in the LA. Was around before the Saints and will be around after.

And he and Payton are notorious for ignoring lsu players.
Case in point, could have easily jumped up a couple spots for not much to draft Jefferson when we needed a receiver a few years ago, but instead gave away almost an entire draft to move up for Olave.

Loomis is an idiot so I expect nothing different.
