I know this has been discussed here but he is truly awful at play by play. Nice guy i am sure but awful. i could do a better job and i suck....
was listening in the car and his description of the fumble recovery and td return was the worst. like the speech part of his brain cannot keep up with vision part. and then the missed xtra point where he was pretty sure it was good, until Deuce had to assure him it was not. He was going by the kicker's reaction--not the refs.
PBP guys have to have a certain glibness in calling the games.
it is a symptom of the franchise in general.

Cant believe the team went from a hall of famer in Jim Henderson to Zach Strief and Hoss.
Its insane to me that they actually had Zach Strief doing play by play. He's the worst ive ever heard.
The Pelicans radio guy is also horrible.

Deuce is a good color analyst and deserves better than Hoss

Deuce is great.
You can tell he gets frustrated with Hoss because he has no idea what he's doing, which is true.

Strief & Hoss know the right people. This statement pretty much sums up the problem with this organization on ALL fronts.

Henderson was one of the best in the NFL. There’s some bad play by play guys all over the league. Hoss is probably in the bottom quarter though.

There was a time when Hoss was considered the heir apparent to Jim Henderson inthe early 90s. But I think he opened up his own production company and for years was on another side of the business

There is a certain nostalgia when listening to a good radio broadcast of an NFL game(Westwood One). I grew up listening to Saints games on WWL with Jim Henderson, who was also great. I only listen to WWL when absolutely necessary these days because Mike Hoss is unlistenable. That’s why it matters.
If you’re watching the game, I could make a case that it doesn’t really matter, but listening it absolutely matters.

Why does it matter that he can’t describe the game to people that mostly are not able to view it? Seriously?
