A list of things that don't matter:

1) Preseason rankings
2) Mel Kiper's opinion
3) Missouri athletics

So we got the 2nd best draft class? I'll take it.

Edit:
Aka Kiper is an idiot so I just go by the opposite of what he says.

He shite on the Kamara pick pretty fricking hard.

As did quite a few posters here.

Though nothing rivals the melt when he selected an injury-prone tackle from Wisconsin

Most of our dislikes of players comes from the optics of us fans viewing the selection with a history of a former draft pick in mind. Literally one has nothing to do with the other's potential success.

As I recall, the Ram pick got a "C" from quite a few draft pundits.

It’s pretty well known Kiper gets paid by agents and pushes their players.

pretty solid analysis. Turner, at that point the draft, was a flat out dumb pick. Could have traded back and got more picks and still got Turner, if that's who they really wanted. If we are going to just draft blindly on these kind of longshots it would have better to keep all our picks, STOP WITH THE STUPID GIVING UP PICKS TO MOVE UP just to draft these kind of players. Would have worked out better just to stay where we are or move back and take more of the universally acknowledged solid picks. It's like Saints draft room is trying hard to prove they are smarter than everyone else.

You can make a fortune with NFL teams since you know just how the draft will go and where a player will be selected.

And a jump from 28 to 10...can’t imagine what that would have cost us.

surprised the saints didn't give up this years and next years 1st and 2nd picks in order to move up. When they have their eye on a player they really want, like with Davenport and Ingrahm, they will give up whatever it takes to move up. They always think they are outsmarting everyone by making moves in the draft that leaves everyone scratching their heads. Seems like they would have learned by now about moving up to take players that no one else was going to take ahead of them anyway. Or staying put and drafting players that they could have waited until the next round to take, or at least traded back. YOu can still make solid picks late in the draft, like with Tracy McMath and Jacoby Stephens, and many others, in this years draft.

Sounds like they're not the only one.

Someone actually went into detail on this one year, and not only in his draft rankings, but he also did free agent rankings for a few years (maybe still does) and it slanted HEAVILY towards certain agents.

I wish people would stop saying this like it's a fact. Just b/c mock drafts had him going in the 2nd...doesn't mean that's where he should have gone.

This guy wasn't going to make it out of the 1st round imo. He would've been taken at #30, #31, or #32 imo. They all ended up taking a DE/Edge guy, & apparently the Bills were planning on taking him at #30.

Stop putting so much stock into mock drafts. Mock drafts are done by amateurs. If they were professionals...they would be making 6 or 7 figures in a FO, & not 50 k as a member of the media.

Forget the "left-wing" nonsense. This is what I've said all along was the true power of ESPN. They control the narrative.

The NFL Draft is the textbook example. Nobody knows half these guys and they haven't scouted any of them. But everybody thinks their team made a good or bad pick because the guy on ESPN said they made a good or bad pick. And everybody here KNOWS that the Saints picked their first round pick too early because the guy on ESPN said he'd be available in the second. How do they know this, and better yet what makes you think you know this?

And think of how we historically view the draft. Why do we say Aaron Rodgers "fell" on Draft Day? Because Mel and Todd couldn't read the room? Why do we consider him a top 3 pick in retrospect? Partly because he's great. Partly because ESPN got butthurt because their "experts" were wrong.
