Maybe the power to trade needs to be taken away from Loomis

I’m assuming all trades start and stop with him. He’s an excellent cap manager but goddamn do the Saints blow at trading.
We want a player? Okay, we’ll over spend by a huge margin.
We want to get rid of a player? Here, you can have him. We’ll even toss a pick in.
It’s so desperate from a team that has a ton of talent and depth. Makes no sense.

I always thought it'd be really smart to separate the business ops and personnel portions of that job into two separate sides of the house.
Personnel identifies the need.
Business Ops actually negotiates the deal.
Because whatever they're doing in the draft and trading is completely screwing it up. They get consistently terrible value.

Can anyone ever name a trade that we’ve done that was a good one?
Even trading up for Marshawn Latimore, if we had stayed pat we could have had Trey White (more pro bowls). I can’t think of a single time we traded up where we couldn’t have gotten a better player at the position we traded up for.

If we traded up I'm PRETTY sure we weren't picking a CB

Don't worry Zom.
We have always depended on you to be the voice for panic and shoot from the hip post.
You still the man

They didn’t trade up for Lattimore. They were in their pick spot. The chiefs traded up and sniped mahomes which is who the Saints were going to pick.

I think the saints new they would never reach a deal bc CGJ wanted to be paid as a safety and we said no way. If he plays and hits the market next year, you get nothing, this way they tried to get some, albeit very little, value from the deal. I’d rather him play this year for the saints as he likely wouldn’t slack off in a contract year, but I understand the business aspect and it’s one of the deepest position groups on the roster.

Literally would’ve got better picks letting him walk smh he’d get 2nd or 3rd round compensation signing a deal and being good elsewhere.

You're getting downvoted but this is spot on. The trades to move up in this year's draft were not good, and this one to dump CGJ is terrible. I like Loomis for the most part, but damn he is a bit too loose with players and draft picks. He needs to recognize the value in all of these things.
