exactly. Does everyone already forget how many kickers we tried last year? Lutz is top 5 in the league.

Guess what? Elite kickers still miss sometimes. No one kicks 100%. Lutz is elite. frick anyone who doesn't realize that.

Wasn’t addressing to you Freek. Just forgot to preface OP. For some reason, I’ve got a hangover at 9:00 on a Sunday night.

Hey OP, rub that ointment on your dirty snatch.

He’s made 79% of his FGs the last two seasons after being at 88% his first fours seasons

He’s missed a great deal of time with a core and a groin. It’s never good when your kicker has to get multiple surgeries. He hasn’t proven to be the guy of old

yeah, I get the argument on money and reliability, but if he's healthy, who can we get that's better? I don't want to go through what we had to do without Lutz. Or what the cowboys did after bailey. Lutz isn't losing us games right now, and he hasn't played real competition in 2 years. maybe let's wait to evaluate him until after the whole season.

He was always just above average IMO. I never understood why Payton was in love with this guy. Always good for a mid-range Miss when the game is on the line.

No longer special, just another kicker.

Such is the life of an NFL kicker.

I know he had some misses but everytime Morten came on the field, I wasn't praying the kicker to make it.

Great, he can hit a 60 yarder.

except he can't hit the 30-40 yarders that should be routine (most of the time) which will cost us games (and already has).

Just a reminder on more advanced numbers:

He makes 70.6% of his kicks, that is 3rd to last in the league.

He is 6/8 from 30-39; The ONLY kicker who has missed 2 kicks from that distance.

He is 2/4 from 40-49; In total 6 kickers have done that.

He is 3/4 from 50+; one of the better from that distance.

Putting him: 11/16 from 30+ (4.05mil)

to compare from 30+:
Zuerlein is 12/15 with no misses from 30-39 (2.75mil)
Bullock is 5/7 with no misses from 30-39 (2.34mil)
Gould 6/8 with no misses from 30-39 (3.625mil)
Boswell is 9/13 with 1 miss from 30-39 (5mil)
Slye is 4/6 with no misses from 30-39 (2.43mil)

The top paid kickers:
Tucker (6mil) - is 5/7 from 50+, otherwise 11/11 from within 50
Boswell (5mil) is 5/6 from 50+, otherwise 7/10 from within 50
Koo (4.85mil) - is 3/5 from 50+, otherwise 11/12 from within 50
Gano (4.67mil) - is 4/4 from 50+, otherwise 13/15 from within 50
Carlson (4.6mil) is 5/5 from 50+ and 11/11 from within 50

He and Boswell are overpaid chokes.

He was top 5.

It is getting worrisome. He has been missing kicks he would've never missed.

He has gone from the high 80's to 75%.

Dude, Morten has a career field goal percentage UNDER 80%. He was great for his era but he'd be terrible in todays game. In one of his saints seasons he had a 69% FG percentage. He also had 9 seasons in the 70's during his career.

When Lutz signed his deal, he was the highest paid kicker in NFL history. At the time, it was well worth it, as you really did not worry about any kick from 55 yards in. True weapon.

He does not instill that confidence any longer. He’s a kicker; he has the opportunity to get endless reps at practice. This does not appear to be a matter of, “he’s been hurt, let’s give him a chance to get reacclimated”. There’s no room for error, he needs to roll out of bed and at least knock down 85% of his looks to justify his pay. If not we can pay a guy the minimum to hit 70%
