Jameis Winston hit his 11th consecutive completion with 3:23 remaining in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss. He didn’t attempt another throw until 14 plays later....

For a while I wondered if Winston had 30 interceptions still in his head and was playing cautious....and maybe that was in Sean's head as well. But during t his stretch it felt that he stopped thinking too much and was finally doing what we know he can do. Which I'll take, and if it results in an interception here and there I think we can deal with it since our defense GENERALLY plays really well.

But then Sean stopped calling plays for him.

Again, we're going to need to let Winston cook or this offense will continue to sputter and underwhelm. I'll take the bad with the good over what we've been seeing.

Sean is being overprotective of Winston.

I’m not sure if it’s due to lack of weapons or if Jameis psyche is fragile but whatever it is it needs to stop.

He’s either the guy or he isn’t. Let it happen either way.

On the surface, this tweet looks bad, but when you look at the actual plays it makes sense.

JW throws pass with 3:23 left on 1st & 10. They then run it 10 times in a row and score TD. Team has the lead, and the running game is working. Hell, we were all begging SP to do this when Brees was playing. Ran off ~6 1/2 minutes

Giants: run 5 plays, then punt ~5 1/2 minutes

Saints: 3 and out, 1st down went for 7 yards..~2 1/2 minutes

Giants: 1 play TD

Saints: Throw on 2nd & 7

The play that puzzle me was Winston had just threw 2 good deep passes but you take him out to let tysom throw a deep pass when we all know that’s not his strong point but go figure Payton lost this game

He never lets hill throw it qt the right time.

Hill shouldn't be allowed to throw 40 yard passes

We were up two scores for a while and I would bet Payton thought we could run it out and didn't want to lose by INT. He assumed loss by INT was more likely than loss by Def shitting the bed.

When Hill came in I was thinking no way he throws here. Then he dropped back and you could see why Hill released it. But he was so late on the throw and then it was way under thrown. Bad play by Hill. That was a huge play.

I mean the dude threw 30 tds and 30 picks while going over 5k yards. I think he’s pretty capable of shaking it off

Then why is Sean still calling the offense like old man Brees is back there?

It's like he sees the throw but in his head he thinks he can bomb it farther and be the hero so he waits, and then underthrows it. You can see it every time he goes back to throw.

he was 6 yds back from los receiving snap, then took a 5 step drop in addition, then he climbed the pocket way too long. not sure if all that was designed but i think a 3 step drop would have been better in that situation.

Hes treating Winston like we did Teddy two years before. Just easy throws and game managing. Winston is a gunslinger though. He needs to be set free to fly.

Nah, Teddy attempted about 32 passes a game in his starts in '19. Winston is attempting less than 23.

Nah they favored the run with Teddy as well. This offense this year reminds me when Teddy was the QB

Sean is doing the same thing with Winston that he did with Taysom. Trying to rewire their brains to not play the way they instinctually want to.

With Taysom, he tried to smother the tendency to go through a quick progression and then take off when nothing is there. With Winston, he's trying to make him dink and dunk and not take longer, risky passes.

This play changed the momentum that Winston had gained. He literally threw a TD the play before but got called back for holding. He was dialed in and Payton just killed it.
