5. 2000 Hakim Drops the Ball
This. Nothing else comes close. The blown call game is really underrated. It was a jet engine almost the entire time. But the 09 Championship Game and Gleason were louder.

Didn’t they say the ceiling tiles were falling down it was so loud?
I remember seeing pictures of that
If I'm not mistaken, Rams had to use all 3 timeouts their first 2 series as well because they couldn't get the play in.

It absolutely has to be the whole first half of that rams nfc championship. It was hard to even hear the announcers on the tv and goff had his hands over his helmet ear holes to be able to hear the plays the whole time. I’ll never forget how crazy it sounded on tv, I can only imagine in person. A shame it was all for naught

Not gonna lie, after that Demario Davis INT in the 1Q I thought rafters were gonna start falling (only halfway kidding).
Im only 29, but that was easily the best atmosphere pregame and in-game (until the end) of anything I have ever been a part of, and #2 (LSU/Clemson) isn’t especially close

I’ve been to all the big games but the mnf football game against the bucs in 2002 was def one of the loudest.

there were times in the 90s where the saints would get penalties for the crowd noise being so loud. that is when we had 70,000 saints fans in the dome not a dome half filled with business people and visitors.

Had completely forgotten about this. Boomer didn't know what to do. The crowd was going crazy.

This. There were times back then when the opposing tackles had absolutely no shot against Rickey Jackson & Pat Swilling because of the crowd noise. They would get embarrassed all game long especially on 3rd & long.
You have to remember this is before teams had the idea to use silent snap counts. The noise in the Dome back then also forced teams to develop another route to help their tackles hear the snap. They started making the tackles hold hands with the guards. Since the guards were closer to the center, they heard the snap. By holding hands, the tackles could tell the snap once the guards began to move.

I was at all of those and it had to be Gleason's blocked punt game. Dome has never been more electric. I had to yell to talk to the person next to me

when the Saints beat the Rams on New Years eve 1990 on last second FG it got pretty loud.
not that the moment would make a list but it was pretty crazy.
the Rams had jumped offside and blocked Morten's kick the play before but Morten got a 2nd chance and hit it.
sent the Saints to a wild card playoff game @ Chicago.
I was also at the 1st playoff win against the Rams.
Good Times.

I would argue it was the loudest sports event ever to anyone. I don't care about decibel "records."
You can't get louder than an enclosed building with a full playoff crowd of people who were challenged all week. The play clock was at 35 and the crowd was already screaming together.
It was my favorite and least favorite sporting event ever. Crowd was INSANE and you had to be there to appreciate it. The boos were almost as loud when that cocksucker missed the call also

People also forget that for the entire week of the 2018 NFCCG, Coach Payton was on TV telling people specifically to start screaming right when the play ends and not wait until the play clock ran down closer to the snap. This caused insane sustained noise levels and was different than almost any big game (e.g. LSU/Bama) I've ever been too.
As soon as the play ended everyone got soooo loud so that Goff couldn't hear the play/checks from Mcvay.

Porter INT 2009 NFCCG
There was so much negativity at that moment. We blew it. We were going to lose unless Brett Favre did something idiotic. It was the biggest shift of emotions in team history.
It wasn't just that the INT happened. In the moment probably everybody in the Dome thought for a split second that we were about to kick a FG and win the game in regulation.

Nope. I'll never forget it. And the constant calls from Payton and local sports radio (Bobby Hebert, etc...) to be loud in the breaks, not just when the opposing offense comes to the line but while they are in the huddle, etc. As mentioned above, the dome was rocking, vibrating and shaking for the entire time between snaps.

Saints bears 91
If I remember right, both teams were undefeated (8-0 & 7-0). You knew it was a big game because John Madden & Pat Summerall called that game on CBS.

Lol so this thread really got me depressed on a Friday…

Bears had 2 losses
I think the refs forced saints timeout because it was too loud when saints were on d
