We should have just kept our 3rd and waited for a better deal or forced Sean to sit out another year. This is a disgrace. The Saints are now a disfunctional disaster of an organization.

Wanting to blow up this deal over a third round pick is INSANE

Writing has been on the wall for over a year with the downfall of the saints.

There were two options. Get something for Sean or get nothing for Sean.

You'd rather get nothing?

I don't agree with waiting and getting even less, but I do believe the Broncos could have been desperate enough to not need us to include the 3rd.

Loomis can't help himself, but include picks in deals.

This thread and the other thread are how I can tell so many people here weren’t fans before 2006

Couldn't you say the same thing about Denver too? No way they don't go through with the trade, even if we take the 3rd rounder off the table.

The problem is they were never willing to walk away and thats why the leverage flipped

They would because their pride gets in the way. This deal is fine.

Do you honestly think the Broncos walk away from the only coach they could hire to fill their need to get a big name over a 2024 3rd rounder? Mickey just sucks as a negotiator.

I think it’s entirely possible. They met with Jim Harbaugh twice.

Why would they walk away? The team needs players. Get the best you can for a coach that was never coming back and move on.

Logic. You want to say that not including the 3rd rounder would blow the deal. What is that based on? Denver is the one who wanted him as coach. They obviously would not have given up on him as coach because of a 3rd rounder coming back in 2024.

They could easily have gone another direction. But it also goes to show how little value a third round draft pick has in the grand scheme of things. The odds of getting an impactful player are very low.

Please, for the rest of us, stop being a fan. Seriously.

And both times, he told them no.

They wanted SP. Bringing in Harbaugh and flirting with Demeco was a strategic negotiating technique and Loomis ate that hook whole. This was a don't blink game, Loomis blinked.
