Not my first choice in the first. But we didn’t give away the next three years of first round picks like we normally do in a trade.

His weaknesses on his player profile really make you wonder how he’s a first round pick.
On top of the lackluster production and skills, 2021 ACL tear, 2022 shoulder surgery.

About the only thing that checks out is size. Hope it works out for us

What other DT was available that you wanted?

None, so move to a different position of need. Like TE were the #1 ranked TE was still there.

That was mostly Sean Payton making those impulsive moves.

Number one te and number one safety still on the board. I’d have been fine with either one.

It was well known that Kincaid was the top TE and would be drafted first.

Kincaid is just a big receiver. He’s not a real te.

1a and 1b to me but I get your point. Mayer is really good and doesn’t have the baggage Bresee has. To me, Bresee is a guy who peaked in high school. I think he will be a huge bust. I hope I’m wrong.

We picked a starting DT at 29 (biggest position of need), with immense upside. WTF are you guys bitching about? He is basically a second round pick. We can still wind up with Branch or one of the TEs today.

That's who the valuable TEs in the NFL are these days.

There are very few 2-way TEs.

The same bitching about Breese would have occurred had we traded picks to move up to get a DT.

"stupid again to give away picks...we could of got Breese a guy graded first round by everybody. He stays healthy and we are chumps again aaaarrrggghhh."

Exactly. They’re talking like they’ve spent 100 hours scouting this player but it’s always sky falling anyway. We got a really good pick. He’s gonna be a stud and at a minimum I’d bet he’s Sedrick Ellis production level

That’s not an option with the way the Saints approached free agency and the roster

The hole at DT forced the front office to draft the best DT on the board at 29.

There was no “move to a different position”

That's why scouts are paid to spend years scouting players inside and out and not reading a blogger's mock draft to determine who to pick.
