I will submit one thing into evidence. 2012 defense - and this defense is worse. Case closed.

Really?

Logically? Absolutely.

If the NFL has taught us anything over the last 10 years its make it to the playoffs then anything can happen. I think we make the playoffs this year.

Although I think we will turn it around, as of now, I just want to make the playoffs. Once your in there's no telling what happens. We played Seattle pretty hard last year in playoffs.

I mean homefield is important, but I'm more concerned about our quality of play at this point.

10-6 is doable but man we'd have to get lucky as shite to get the NFC title game at home

that'd take 2, maybe 3 upsets in the playoffs likely

Since we're clearly a better running team than passing team as evidenced by the last 5 games (2 playoff games last season included), is home field as important as you're claiming?

You need to update your data set IMO - these Saints aren't your 2009-2011 Saints.

that's an overreaction. do you have any evidence to justify this?

although blowing up our salary cap to sign a safety looks to be similar to milk (a bad fricking choice)

well if that doesn't change we're surely not winning the SB b/c we won't make the playoffs

Like I said, a pattern is forming in close games under Rob Ryan with this defense.

You're the one who needs to pay attention - we're averaging damn near 6 YPC. We should be 2-0 if our playcalling wasn't the worst in the league.

Look at 2010 if we beat the niners in that playoff game we have the NFC championship at home

Talking 2011 season and the game was in 2012 but anyway this is a stretch now, not saying can't happen but we were 3-5 last season on road and with a better D. We will be lucky for 7-1 at home think 5-3 more realistic but hope I'm wrong!

Evidence - At the end of week 1 we were worse than 2012 D. Seeing as we just got smoked but one of the worst offenses ever, an offense missing their Tight End and #1 Receiver - I feel safe saying this is the worst defense ever. Plus the fact that my eyes are bleeding shite all over my fricking satins jersey, pretty much tells me I am spot on about this.

oh yeah

that's what happens with him, historically. he wrecks shop in year 1 and then it tails off to mediocrity and a lot of blown late games

i mean why he was let go by teh cowboys was one thing, but that wasn't his first DC stop

a pattern has already formed with payton. he isnt going to run the fricking ball to close out a game despite us avg 10 ypc. its pretty fricking ridiculous dont you think?

I'm still on the Byrd train. In 2 games he has caused a fumble and made 2 key tackles, once today. Browns didn't really put themselves in position for him to make a play. Mostly dink and dunk with good first down runs. I think Byrd will make plenty of plays this year.

As far as the Payton/Bree's era goes, this only came about as recently as the halfway point of last season. It's a confidence issue but where is it coming from?

It's coming from Payton's failure to recognize that our best skillset is the running game. We had NE, CAR, ATL, and CLE in the palm of our hands. We averaged over 5 YPC in every single one of those games yet Payton continued to abandon the run.
