Had something interesting to say about the defense. When Kristian Garlic asked about your great players needing to play great on D, he said we don't have any great players on D. He said we have a lot of really good players, but no truly great players.

He also said it looks like Jordan, Davis and Matthieu have all lost a step.

I'm glad that he's still watching and analyzing the Saints. I think he is right in his assessment.

He also said he has never been a Jameis fan due to his lack of consistency.

I don't think he's wrong.

Closest thing to a true stud on D is Lattimore and he's a headcase.

Davis and Jordan are old and will be slowing down.

Williams was a young stud we let go.

Really need Davenport and Payton Turner to reach their potential.

Trailing by double digits in every game, 5 interceptions and 9 fumbles make it difficult on a defense. They’ve played well enough to win every game

We haven’t scored a point in the first three quarters the last two weeks

People who support Winston have always acknowledged his past inconsistency. Their platform now is this: When Winston is healthy and has a serviceable O-Line, he's a good QB.

This is a sound platform, isn't it? Would any QB be any good if he were either injured or had a bad O-Line?

So, going forward, the challenge for the Coaches will be to assess Winston accurately, while bearing in mind the obstacles he faces: his injury and whether the O Line is bad.

This is not an easy equation to solve, IMHO.

Considering how much 1st round capital they’ve spent on defense, that’s really depressing.

Fair assessment. Our biggest issues aren't with the defense. It's the offense that is sputtering. The defense is what has kept us in any of the games. Our biggest issues are with turnovers and penalties. Both the offense and defense are responsible for this. Through 3 games 24 penalties for 217 yds. 4 fumbles. Winston has thrown 5 interceptions. We have 0 interceptions. The team has only recorded 4 sacks while Winston has been sacked 11 times. On top of this special teams have not been very good.
And here is a disturbing stat if accurate. This was posted by
TC16 on a thread last night.

I saw a PFF statranking offenses by pass catchers being considered open or wide open and the Saints were ranked dead last in the league at 36%

With as much as has been going wrong we have been close in each game. On paper it looks ugly but most of this is fixable. Too early to be disheartened but every week with a loss makes easier to lose your faith.

thats what i been sayin. this is not a championship D. very good but not top notch.

Patterson and McCaffery each rushed for over 100. 0 ints.

this isnt the defense of 2019 - 2021. it also isnt the defense of 2014-2016 either.

but against Carolina and probably Tampa, they were good enough to win. Falcons couldve easily been a loss and if they were a better team, it would have been

I heard that interview. It is good to hear the old coach still going strong at his age.

The offense is worst than last year's 5-2 record.

Folks it isn't just JW.

Look at the yards rushing vs our D.

Fumbles.

Missed FG's.

Play calling.

Massive penalties.

Int's and our QB looking bewildered and lost certainly.

Like most of us I don't care who runs the show and calls the plays. Just improve and show promise. We are not there yet. Its not over but time is running out. Look good in beating the vikes and we are 2-2 and looking up. Play like crap and go 1-3 and they will get what they deserve.

Mora is a dumbass. Lattimore is one of the best corners in the league. If that’s not great I’m not sure what is

The morons who ignore this are the ones who hated Payton and want to blame it all on Winston so they don’t have to admit they were wrong. The truth is, this team is 3-0 with Payton coaching it and would be a top 5 offense.

Kinda the reason I didn’t want honey Badger. Small and over 30. He may be ok this year but he will decline every year.

Shoulda resigned Williams and let Maye take Jenkins spot
