so he "strained" the same hip he just had surgery on after one practice.

excuse me if I don't believe this at all. he'd be out on the field watching at least if this was just a strain.

Approach Considerations
The initial management of an adductor injury should include protection, rest, ice, compression, and elevation (PRICE). Painful activities should be avoided. The use of crutches during the first few days may be indicated to relieve pain. Use of steroid injections is controversial in adductor strains, because the potential exists for tendon rupture if the steroid is injected into the tendon itself. Obtain consultations as appropriate to rule out differential diagnoses.[16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21]

Do not advance the athlete too quickly back to his/her sport, as the injury may become a chronic condition. Acute strains easily can become chronic strains if proper time is not allowed for healing. Chronic strains are much more difficult to manage.

So it sounds like last year they rushed him back to quickly and now it is chronic.

Hip/Abductor strain is a 6-8 week injury.

But if it's chronic this will likely keep happening.

Put him on IR- Designated to Return and let him either get fully healthy or shut him down.

"Not season ending"

For some players maybe, but there's a 95% chance he "tweaks" it the minute he steps back on the field.

some interesting changes in rule, don't even need to designate him.

Rule change could add strategy to bringing a player back from IR

A rule change passed Wednesday morning basically eliminates the injured reserve – desginated for return list but does not eliminate the rule allowing one player per team, per season to return to action from the injured reserve list.

Now, teams can simply choose a player who’s been on injured reserve for at least six weeks and activate him once he’s healthy enough to play again.

Still only one player per season may be activated from injured reserve, but the team does not need to designate that player when he’s placed on IR. In the past, if a player was hurt in the preseason or early in the regular season, teams would have decide whether to use the return designation — or, in some cases, whether to place the player on IR at all until it had a clear timetable for a potential return.

Now, teams could potentially use some strategy and gamesmanship in deciding which injured player could make a late-season comeback. Decisions could be made based on roster strength and depth, or in the case of multiple players being potentially eligible to return, waiting until the last minute before a weekly activation deadline could keep opponents guesssing. Under the old rule, the player with the IR-return designation was out at least six weeks before returning to practice and eight before he could return to game action.

The new rule was proposed by the Buffalo Bills. The original designated for return rule was passed in 2012; prior to then, any player placed on injured reserve would miss the rest of the season.

he was on the field watching every day while he was on the PUP list.

now he has a strain and he's MIA. either this is a bad enough strain to require MRIs or it's not a strain.

"excuse me if I don't believe this at all. he'd be out on the field watching at least if this was just a strain."

Why wouldn't you believe this at all, especially given:

"he just had surgery on after one practice"

Of course he'd go see specialists

Your logic doesn't follow.

He just had surgery on it. Any soreness to that same area would require MRI's.

Do you even know what a strain is?

Just a time saving tip.

ETA: seeing your last post on the OT, I see you already know this

He's right and wrong. Kennan Lewis hasn't done squat, but Kennan Lewis hasn't signed with the Saints either.

Let me know when you see it...I hope you see it.

get fricked. He was an absolute monster before getting injured. Was a borderline pro-bowl player.
